Right B3ta
I am now a little too excited about the up coming band practice I have on tonight. It's been far too long.

What have you got coming up that you're getting excited about? Monty round 2 doesn't count.

Alt Q: It's Friday, weekend plans you sexy people?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:47, 231 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
You're such an attention-seeking slag

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:48, Reply)
MOVING HOUSE
if the money I've transferred gets there in time.
Oh and sueing the shit out of someone.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:48, Reply)
who you suing?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:49, Reply)
Old letting agent.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:50, Reply)
What's the latest on that Chompy?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:54, Reply)
He's a fucking joker that didn't protect my deposit.
I've sent some very strongly worded letters to his office and sent some to his home address with his actual real name (not his fake name for the company) on.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:56, Reply)
Ha! have you Totached him?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:56, Reply)
Something like that.
Nearly added him on facebook but decided against it.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:58, Reply)
Oooh, no protected deposit?
Quick way to quadruple your money, that. Good luck!
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:58, Reply)
Unless he goes bust to save paying the money.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:02, Reply)
Hold up a sec....
My deposit is with my old letting agent, I have his real name and home contact, but he is no longer operating. I didn't even think, could he have done a runner with my deposit money?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:59, Reply)
You should have got it back when you left.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:12, Reply)
Yah', but I'm still here, I donno if the deposit is with the landlords or the agent.
If it's with the landlord, then it's all good, if it's with the agent, then I'm not so sure.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:14, Reply)
I think
it's supposed to be with the agent. The rules are supposed to protect tennants from unscrupulous landlords. When did you hand it over?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:22, Reply)

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:25, Reply)
If it is after 2007 you're protected by the tenant deposit scheme

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:30, Reply)
Will that not mean
the letting agent is responsible and holds it?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:46, Reply)
It gets held in a government licensed escrow account i think

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:51, Reply)
In theory then
if the landlord knows the details of this one should be laughing teacakes.

If he doesn't one will have to track down the now defunct letting agent?
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:53, Reply)
That's a major faux pas...
...if he didn't protect the deposit. There are rules and regs about how deposit money must be dealt with, IIRC it shouldn't even accrue interest.

Good luck with that, I hope do do 'im proper like.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:04, Reply)
Alright PJM?

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 10:56, Reply)
Yep, all good here thanks Monty!
I missed the threads this morning, how did last night go?

BTW, were you on the 17:20 from Waterloo East on Tuesday night? If not, you have a doppelganger in town.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:03, Reply)
It was great, thanks.
That wasn't me - I do definitely have at least one double. A pal's GF once pinched the arse of a total stranger on the bus, utterly convinced it was me...
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:05, Reply)
Ah, I wasn't sure and didn't have my lenses in...
...so I didn't wander over and say "alright Monty, how's things?" to a complete stranger and feel like a total nobber in front of a packed carriage.

Probably for the best that one.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:06, Reply)
I'd say you had a fortunate escape.

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:20, Reply)

Cat hater is bert is so not a headline
It's more that quirky little story at the end of the news:

And finally: It's revealed sad little man still craves internet attention

less of the little, thank you, Bertha

yup
big box of assorted bits and pieces, the best
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:02, Reply)
Modern Lego...
...is a massive disappointment in this respect.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:09, Reply)
AMEN!
A mate got a bunch of us Lego for Christmas. Mine was a pirate ship, that you could ONLY make a pirate ship out of.
Ok, so I also made a alarmingly-curved penis out of the bits, but it was a serious chore. Not even fun.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:11, Reply)
Exactly.
All the bits are pre-moulded into the approximate shape. Which takes all the imagination and effort out of building the damn thing in the first place. It's become like those clip together Airfix kits they do for ADD afflicted kids who can't be trusted with Humbrol paints and glue.

I agree with the cost sentiment... Lego would be cheaper if they used fewer specialist molds to make one use only bits...
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:15, Reply)
Didn't Lego recently lose the exclusive rights to produce those bricks?
If so then the cost should fall.

You can get some nice old-school Lego sets which are purely bricks, no wheels or anything. Problem is the kids will still scream for the one with the picture of the cool car on the box that they'll complete in about an hour then never return to again.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:20, Reply)
not cheap either

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:11, Reply)
We were all old-fashioned and that
swords, tree-houses, lego, chemistry sets.

And for the fluffy- teddy-bears

And lots of playing outside
I've never owned a games console in my life.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:08, Reply)
I've owned at least one of each generation of console
But still had time to go falling out of trees and playing in building sites.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:09, Reply)
Same
no games consoles, and made to play outside on the grounds of 'it's healthy' and 'learn to amuse yourself'
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:10, Reply)
playing outside, making forts
riding bikes, sword fights

those were the days. where has it all gone wrong people? kids today have a shit life compared to what we had

But after that it becomes a feat of engineering to put up. I have to take it down for work (but not casual fridays), so can't do anything longterm like use sugar water, soap or woodglue. Hairspray and a hairdryer are all I use.

Entertaining the nuggets on Saturday...
...while chickenlady drives to the airport to pick up her M&D. I can see us all playing CoD or watching Red Dwarf DVDs.

I'm going to head to the gym after that and hopefully relax with a couple of glasses of single malt in the evening.

Sunday I'm taking the boys to Rugby training and will try and squeeze in another gym workout before the end of the weekend.

My life is so exciting...

I know I should, I can do wine etc. And whiskey is something I SHOULD like... But I still think it tastes like petrol

sorry
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:20, Reply)
No apology necessary...
...the taste is influenced by many factors though, one whiskey can taste very different to another.

Steve Hillage produced some Simple Minds albums if I remember correctly.
It seems strange now to think that they were once a decent band.

Yeah, ended up at Peckam Queen's Road rather than Peckham Rye
walked back along the high street at about 9 o clock cheerfully checking for rapists.

Also, I'm enjoying the Montbertcentric goings-on this morning, not sure it's appropriate yet.

I've been e-mailing my friend Dave with regard to a tricky piece of scheduling this weekend.
In the city centre this weekend is the Freedom Festival which was originally held three years ago to mark the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery and, in particular, pay homage to the role played by local MP William Wilberforce, by watching performances by X Factor runners up and eating badly prepared food from stalls with questionable standards of hygene.
The event is now held annually in the interest of "family fun"
However this year it clashes with the Camra beer festival held at the city hall. Thus we have to devise a plan that allows us to do our family duty but still get to sample Mrs Simpson's Vanilla Porter, preferably whilst avoiding having to watch The Saturdays.
(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:29, Reply)
I fucking love The Saturdays

(, Fri 10 Sep 2010, 11:34, Reply)
You couldn't stand in for me for an hour or so could you?
Mind you the fact that I could remember how to pick out the main bit from I Just Can't Get Enough when they did their version did briefly make me slightly less dinosaurish in my daughter's eyes.
