Friday thread
Looks like we could be about to enjoy a little reprieve and have somewhat of an Indian summer. What outdoor activities are you going to shoehorn in before autumn arrives proper?

Alt Q: What are you doing this weekend then b3ta?
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:18, 141 replies, latest was 15 years ago)

A spot of dogging
Alt A: A spot of dogging

It's the new swinging.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:33, Reply)
Do you need to bring a dog?
I can bring two.

Will there be food laid on?
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:37, Reply)
A dog would probably help as a cover story
I'll make some sandwiches and get something to keep the dogs amused whilst we fwap furiously, leaning on the side of the bouncing car.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:46, Reply)
Egg and cress would be nice.
And some fizzy pop.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:01, Reply)
Ok with Panda Pops?
If so, specify your favourite colour.

surfing
but then I will continue doing that when autumn arrives as well

friends are moving house today, so going to christen it with spliffs tonight. Free haircut tomorrow as it got cancelled last weekend which is nice. BBQ with my parents in the evening.

Meeting some b3tans on Sunday, in theory

edit: Our drummer couldn't make it to practice last night, so after wearing my fingers out with guitar solos I took to the drums. I am no longer the most awful drummer who ever lived, so I'm going to get my mate to give me some lessons.

I am getting the kite out again for some windy adventures.

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:32, Reply)
I can sail but can't surf
It's like snowboarding only much harder and with more death.

Putsborough, Wooly, Croyde, etc etc
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:33, Reply)
far more chance of injury when snowboarding
I tend to go to Woolacombe or Saunton mainly.

We should liaise. I'm easy to spot though as my board is 9'4 and fairly bright green and yellow

My kite is 5m long and black
I am 1. something metres long anf white.

Saunton is nice actually. Yeah I should be down in the next couple of weeks so I will def gaz you.

Sleeping is the only time I don't like to have a spliff.
I am still waiting for my man to deliver. I ran out last night so went to where I keep the bin bags that had the weed in and managed to get just under an ounce out of them in dust and flakey bits. It's a bit dry but blew my lid off.

I'm sure we could start an excellent internet rumour
that all SLK drivers are paedophiles.

There must be something wrong - I mean, you've got £30 odd K to burn on a two seater convertible, and you actively choose to buy the worst one available for the money.

OUTdoor activities?!
The new Uni term is upon us, which means I can kiss my social life goodbye as I will shortly be spending all my free time either practising Ballroom or dispensing Ballroom-related advice to nubile, winsome 18-year-old girls. And gays. Lots of gays.

Alt Q - meeting my ex-workmates for a quiz trail around Norwich tomorrow and playing LOTR wargames on Sunday. Form an orderly queue, ladies
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:33, Reply)
Yes, but surely you'll take some of the fresh young boys to the bushes outside for a gobble?

(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 10:34, Reply)
No need
Ballroom types are phenomenally liberated about that sort of thing. And they need to get in practice for when they're noshing off the judges in competition

Alt Q: I've got a stag do all day tomorrow, oh dear! Then Sunday I hopefully shall see one of the best matches of the Premier League season. Come on Liverpool!
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:06, Reply)
Man Utd should smash them
but who knows. Depends if Torres and Rooney turn up. Berba is playing well and Joe Cole started to show what he is about last night. You're right will be a cracker! Come on Arsenal....oh hang on.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:08, Reply)
I don't know
Prior form rarely has any impact on the games between us.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:14, Reply)
Haha, right.
Well, I suppose Joe Cole is starting to show what he's about, if by that you mean "pointless show pony" ... I'm surprised the Channel 5 boys weren't actively cracking one off over him though ... word to a commentator - it's not a "sublime piece of skill" if the ball ends up at the opposition's feet, regardless if you kick it with your one foot round the back of the other. It's a "shit pass"
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:22, Reply)
I tipped him to be the most dissappointing signing of the season
but I was impressed with him last night. Liverpool weren't that boring which is nice.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:27, Reply)
No, but I'd argue they were fairly fucking lucky.
Goal in the first 30 secs from an error, then totally dominated for the rest of the first half by a team that would struggle in the championship here, and then (granted they were better in the second half but) the softest penalty you will ever see, followed by two late goals which didn't reflect the game.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:30, Reply)

Yeah I would agree with that, but they all count, especially in Europe. Liverpool should be trying their fucking hardest to win the Europa as they have zero chance of winning anything else.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:35, Reply)
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong
to win you need to be lucky as well as good, and I agree entirely about the Europa league. Which is why I think it's interesting they rested Torres and Gerrard for Saturday. Mind you, Man U have a better chance in the champions league then the prem, so likewise I don't understand the decision to rest Scholes and Berbatov.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:39, Reply)
I don't think you can underestimate Fergies love for Rangers there.
He knows they will top that group and I am sure he convinced himself that shower of shite team he put out could beat Rangers, and they should have. Arsenal for Champions League, Chelsea for prem imo.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:41, Reply)
Nope.
well, 50% agree. Arsenal are Barcelona lite. If they face Chelsea, Inter, Real now probably, Man U over two legs they will get beaten by better tactics and bullying, and if they play Barcelona they will get schooled, just like last season. IMO.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:49, Reply)
I think we have the added steel we were missing then
I hope you are proved wrong but won't be surprised if you aren't. The two new defenders look brilliant and even Almunia has raised his game. I have said this for 5 years now but this could be the season.

weekend weekend
i am going to the gym tonight and then round to my friend's for dinner. sat i have that horrendous sweaty bikram yoga in the morning, then going to the new fancy westfield cinema, then dinner on the southern terrace, then we are going back to the flat to indulge in activities that would make monty proud. sun i will be recovering all day before seeing my personal traner in the afternoon and then going out drinking in richmond in the evening.

gosh it's like having my own blog/calendar with all these weekend threads. shall i talk about going fishing as well?

the new Danny Boyle film
between a rock and a hard place is the book it's based on. Not sure if the flick has the same name. Apparently it's very graphic and you see tendons and stuff. Go and see Scott Pilgrim vs The World as it's fab. The only other one I quite fancy seeing is The Other Guys with Ferrell and Wahlberg.
(, Fri 17 Sep 2010, 11:33, Reply)
yeah i've heard that scott pilgrim
is really good. the only thing is that there are Boys going and they will want to watch something where people die and then other people try to work out who killed them and why and then die in the attempt, preferably in some overly dramatic way like waterskiing on a pair of sharks or something. thrillers, i think they are called.
