Some of you seem as excited about this Bash
As my nephew gets about Christmas.

When was the last time you were so excited you couldn't sleep?

Alt Q: What's for lunch?
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:32, 80 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I had an onion bajhi and houmous sandwich
/a lot nicer than it sounds.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:34, Reply)
i'm being taken out for lunch today
by a former colleague who is now working in political PR.

for the tory party.

i am surprised he hasn't cancelled...
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:35, Reply)
Can you kick him hard in the balls....
...and say "This is from PJM".
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:38, Reply)
can you give him a hug
and say it's from Amberl?

Just to counteract the kick
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:38, Reply)
My soon to be hiked rail season ticket and 41% cut in Arts Council funding...
...would demand nothing less.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:40, Reply)
Everytime I think
about the future price of the trains, I get blind with rage.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:03, Reply)
^ this
I'm so glad that I no longer have to take the tube into work, especially given the rate at which Boris "Look what a lovable buffoon I am to cover up for what a devious cunt I really am" Johnson seems to hike the fares up.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:29, Reply)
There's fare hiking...
...there's also the sympathetic letter I received from my (Conservative!) MP about fare hiking under the Labour government.

And there's the prospect of a whopping 30% hike over four years. We've already got the most expensive trains in Europe, why not simply take those responsible for making trains so expensive outside and shooting them while instructing their newly promoted successors to cut costs.

That's what I'd do if I were in charge.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:49, Reply)
that is shockingly violent
from a vegetarian!

amberl - he really was the office romeo, or thought he was, so he'd definitely take it the wrong way if i said "here, have a hug from a young well-endowed glamorous university student" !
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:39, Reply)
Although I'm a pacifist
I'd still punch Tony Blair in the face given half a chance.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:41, Reply)
^ Likewise
I'm fully in favour of words and discussion over violence, but I'd happily hold the cunt still for you.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:31, Reply)
I agree
but what about from me :D
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:42, Reply)
C'mon now, the torries aren't so bad, just as long as you don't get sick or poor or anything like that.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:40, Reply)
Tell him from me
That I'm glad they've got in to fix the mess Labour always make of things.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:38, Reply)
Alt: Couscous and scotch broth
Weighed myself this morning, it made me sadface, stupid daily calorie requirement...
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:35, Reply)
No idea
though I do have trouble sleeping on Christmas Eve. An engrained response I feel to years of feeling excited.

Alt Q: a sandwich if I can bother to move
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:35, Reply)
My sisters kids
Didn't sleep at all last Christmas eve they were that excited.

She is going to try and confuse them this year by starting their advent calendar on the 2nd of Dec (but telling them it's the first) so that Christmas day comes as a surprise.*

*I don't see it working myself.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:42, Reply)
Nah TV and the radio
would inform them when it was Christmas Eve
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:43, Reply)
Yes, and friends and other family
I don't think it'll work.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:56, Reply)

Then, how does she do to put the presents under the tree?
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:03, Reply)
I've got no idea.
The kids get so much stuff each year the opening on gifts is normalyl spread out over a few days.

It's too much for the kids to take in otherwise.

The spoilt fuckers.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:13, Reply)
Got ridiculously excited recently when the gf and I agreed to start trying for kids.

I have a certain reputation to uphold on here.
I'm not like this IRL.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:55, Reply)
That's okay because I'm not really tall or beardy IRL

it's super nom because it's covered in mayonnaise.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:38, Reply)
Blech.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:47, Reply)
I hate that salad
Why do they call it salad if it has everything but lettuce and tomato? And why so much mayonnaise? It's definetily not healthy.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:54, Reply)
but it's delicious
and that makes me happy. Happy is healthy.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:31, Reply)

I'm always excited about little things, but can sleep very well. I can't sleep when I'm upset with someone, as I feel I need to sort it out before going to bed.

Another football-related post which has fuck all to do with the thread but isn't worth one of its own and requires a response from those of you I know will understand (ie Bobby, Jeff and disasterprone)
There's a poll on the Guardian website to find the all-time greatest XI and some hack has written a column suggesting a few names. I've re-read it twice and there's no mention of either Stuart Pearce or Bobby Moore, however Denis Irwin gets a mention. Could you fine gents please have a look and make sure I haven't gone blind/mental?

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:56, Reply)
Oh, c'mon now
If you want to talk about football, get your own thread and the 4 of you who like it can chat in there without annoying anyone else. I can't recognise any of the players you mention, so they can't be so great.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Oh, what do you know about football, you're Spanish
Oh yeah...
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:00, Reply)
I don't mind a bit of football from time to time
But twice today, babe, it's a bit too much.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:05, Reply)
I'm starting to dislike you and your football posts : (

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 12:59, Reply)
Rule of life = football is shit.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:01, Reply)

Doesn't know if I should reply or not, some people around here seem to have accepted me and I don't want to get the Pires treatment
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:02, Reply)
Whilst everyone else is annoyed about there being a football question.
I'm just going to sulk about not being included in the list of people who will understand.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:06, Reply)
I also understand the question
but I'm not going to sulk like some girl.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:09, Reply)
That's because you're reacting intellectually instead of emotionally and therefore not a "proper" fan.
Football - it all about the ill thought out base tribalism.
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:12, Reply)
To me it's more of a reason to spend time with my mates complaining.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:14, Reply)
You forgot spitroasting orange women.

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:29, Reply)
without their consent

(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:34, Reply)
Well, because Denis Irwin was an infinitely better left back that Stuart Pearce, for a start.
why would you have a problem with that?
(, Thu 21 Oct 2010, 13:29, Reply)
"It's ARSENAL NIL, WEST BROMWICH ALBION 3!!?!" on the commentary
Although it was about 4:30pm, so that's why I couldn't sleep.

AltQ: Chicken Tikka salad sandwich and pickled onion Monster Munch.

EDIT - Also happy to chat about football, obviously. However today I have the Director of Operations sitting at the adjacent desk so it's all about looking busy.
