This is a question World of Random

There's a pile of scrap timber, rubble and general turds in the road opposite my work with a hand-written sign reading "Free Shed". Tell us about random, completely hatstand stuff and people you've seen

I've always wondered...
what a penguin tastes like.

No reason, just always wondered.

I bet they are delicious

Well, they're birds, right?
So I always thought they'd taste a little chicken-like, but they look like they'd taste more of red meat, don't they?

I imagine it's some sort of mix. Like when you use half a pound of ground chicken and half a pound of ground beef in a recipe.

But would all of the fish they eat add a bit of fish flavor?

Chicken

(, Wed 27 Apr 2011, 17:03, closed)
Fish
or, perhaps, chips.

I had raw ostrich once
Ostrich Jerky, in fact. It was salty. And had feathers in it.

Tastes
chocolatey.

Sainsburys do their own ones, half the price, taste exactly the same.

Haha
Brilliant!

I think they will be fatty like duck.
I also suspect they'll have a slight fishy aftertaste as whale does. They could even be very salty or urea-y or Iodene-y or something, perhaps due to osmotic pressure of saltwqter and often no access to fresh water.

gamey, fishy
and with a strong irony aftertaste, i believe.
(, Wed 27 Apr 2011, 17:41, closed)
I've always wondered what irony tastes like -
now I know - penguin!

they taste of dolphin

(, Wed 27 Apr 2011, 18:43, closed)

A bit like peregrine falcon

I met a chap once who claimed to have eaten one.
Oily and fishy apparently. Not a fantastic flavour.

If they were delicious there wouldn't be quite so many left.

Stephen Fry says
swan tastes much the same.
(, Thu 28 Apr 2011, 10:23, closed)
maybe like puffin?

What about pandas?
I'd like to try a tasty panda steak - the useless, resource sucking black and white bastards.
