Always know which side the petrol filler cap is on....
no matter which car you're driving, by simply looking at the fuel light on your dashboard. Whichever side the pump is on in the little picture, is the side that your petrol filler cap will be on! (99.9% of the time!)

I got told that
So I checked the next time I got in the car, and it's not true.

Yep
It's bollocks.
(, Wed 25 Jul 2012, 17:36, Reply)
Bullshit. it is true in around 50% of the vehicals I've checked.

Unless it's true in 100% of them, then it's bollocks

So about the same as random chance then?
*belms hard*

So considering it can only be on 2 sides of a car
then there would be a 50% chance of this happening...

bull
I have a fairly common honda (civic, not an accord) and this is not true for that

I know.
the amount of times Ive been to fill up - and theres a queue of cars waiting for one specific pump, the others being free... so iver pulled up to the pump quite tight, and proceeded to fill up with no issues.

Don't worry what side your fuel filler cap is on.
If you park properly then the hose will reach.

The best car ever made has a filler cap on both sides.

Hmmm
The jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag?
(, Sun 29 Jul 2012, 17:10, Reply)
Yup.
A 45l tank on each side and a nice switch on the dash to choose between them.

Not only posh jags have 2 tanks
We had several landrovers in out MT troop in Düsseldorf with twin fuel tanks, one under each front seat (and accessed for filling by lifting the "cushions" up). When the engine died, it was time to rotate the lever by the drivers seat 90º to take fuel from the other tank. That was as close as you got to a fuel gauge, unless you wanted to take the seats apart and have a look.
