BBC Breakfast has been running a report this morning about how Blackpool is trying to attract French visitors. Something to do with Blackpool Tower looking vaguely like the Tour Eiffel. The report includes shots of a girl ordering coffee etc in French while in Blackpool. Whatever.
Anyway, they've just shown it again, then cut to Chris Hollins for the sport, who said, "I wonder what the French for 'Kiss Me Quick' is?" to presenters Bill Turnbull and Susannah Reid sitting alongside him.
To which the lovely Susannah said, "'Baisez-moi vite', I think".
Well, yes, that does mean "Kiss me quick".
But it also means "Fuck me quick", and that's probably how it would be interpreted if you wandered round the streets of Paris with "Baisez-moi vite" written on your hat.
Bless.

Why would French people want to go to blackpool because the tower looks kind of like the Eiffel Tower?!

The Tokyo tower is bigger than the Eiffel tower.

When we were in Turkey we had a family recommend a restaurant because they did a full Sunday lunch. It's Turkey ffs, why would you want one?! Apart from anything, it's far too hot for such things.

It was actually one of the nicest curries I've ever had.
Clearly I'm a badwrong, or a badong, but I don't regret it.

In Disneyland the majority probably speak English anyway.

My mate has lived in Geneva for 15 years and barely speaks French. Works for a US company and hangs around with ex-pats. No need for him to although I do think it's quite sad he doesn't

They just showed the Blackpool piece again and afterwards Bill Turnbull said they wouldn't attempt to translate Kiss Me Quick into French again, Susannah Reid looked very embarrassed and said her translation obviously didn't mean quite what she thought and she'd better go back to school...
