But learnt that while doing so they escape, which means a night of total anxiety, jumping on them bare handed is very unpleasant indeed, but from seeing it to killing it with your bare hand is only 20 seconds of fear and revoltion, folowed by relief anf joy a minute later when you wash your hands:-)

Apparently all stems from the point where spiders and ticks split - most ticks lost their venom, but a few kept it.
