# Shopping huh....
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 9:41, archived)
# hahahaha
I used tio actively ENJOY doing the whole lot on christmas Eve.
When I was young and stupid.

I'm planning to have it all done by the 15th this year. Then spend a week cooking
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 9:44, archived)
# Sounds like a good plan.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 9:45, archived)
# I like that plan.
We've managed to get all the presents for the girls through the year, especially when their favourite toys were on offer in the winter (Christmas being a summer thing here, which sucks). Just have to think of something nice for the Mrs now.

# Duck!
That's what you'll be cooking, young fellow-me-lad!

Roast Gressingham Duck, spike the skin and pour over two measures of Hendricks Gin, stuff the cavity of the boid with two limes (zest removed) which have been steeped in Gin overnight, and seal inside the beasty with shallots, or small sweet white onions.

Hot flash roast for 20-25 mins, then turn the oven down and roast (medium size duck) at 175-180 for 70 mins.

That's a Christmas roast ^ right there.

*Edit* You can do the roasties in the same baking tray, as the Gin evaporates in the cooking and doesn't taint the fat. It just flavours and tenderises the meat.

Nom!
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 10:46, archived)
# wot no stuffing?
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 10:52, archived)
# Not inside the boid... do it in a seperate tray.
Roast some normal taters, sweet taters, fennel and 'snips in the same baking tray as Mr Duck and you're well sorted.
(, Wed 1 Dec 2010, 10:59, archived)
# this
