Am I the only one to have missed out on the Mario phenomena?
I started with computers with an Amstrad CPC464 seem to have completely by-passed Nintendo in all their forms.

I always skip a generation or two
went from C64 to Playstation One to Xbox 360
Used to play mario at a mates but he was so good, I'd sit there for hours waiting for my turn and promtly die within a minute, then sit for hours more while he completed it.

I remember playing some wrestling game at my mate's house for a full 20 minutes before I realised the character I thought I was controlling was actually being controlled by someone else.

Don't worry.
Until it went 3D it was just a shit slow repetitve platform game with too much inertia.

It's a shame there are no top quality 2d games in this style anymore - you know, like bubble bobble, etc
Love to see them with today's hardware
Instead it's all boring extended cinematic cut scenes, 3d and a thousand keys to memorise
edit: I do realise this makes me sound like Victor Meldrew

my mum was a Jetpac fiend, in a weird role-reversal way:
"Mum, can you stop playing on the computer - I need to go to bed cos I have school tomorrow"
"Just one more go!"
