i know that internet scams are old news, but i thought this request to my 70 year old father, and his response were worth sharing. Especially in light of the current Australian attitudes towards shunting refugees off to isolated islands.
'Dear sir,
I am deeply touched to make this proposal to you believing that you are a person of intergrity.
I am the resident pastor incharge Gospel Deender Ministry at Budubura Refugee camp Accra Ghana.
I have one of my church faithfuls a displaced citizen of Democratic Repulblic of congo presently in the refugee camp.He told me in confidence that he inherited the sum of $750,000.00 seven hundred and fifty thousand
Dollars from his late father which is
presently deposited in a security/finance house with all the relevant documents covering the said deposit intact and would wish to invest this money in your country.
With all sense of responsibility,i will urge you to use your position and create an investment friendly enviroment for this my brother in the lord.
I will appreciate if you can get back to me as soon as possible.
Remain blessed in the lord until i hear from you.
Rev.Ebenezer Kofi'
And Rory's response was (god i hope you read this far as it is quite funny, and as a 70 year old it could be the oldest persons post)
Dear Ebenezer,
'Your letter has touched my heart in all verity. My utmost felicitations to you and your flock in the Lord.
My grandfather, an English sea-captain, was like yourself a man of great integrity. He embezzled half a million dollars from a church in Cape Town and left it in a trust account, which he transferred to me in his will to
return to a church charity in Africa - his conscience troubled him in his last days on earth and he clearly needed the ministrations of a good pastor like unto yourself. I have never touched the ill-gotten funds which, by
now would be worth well over a million dollars, given the interest that will
have accrued.
If you are willing to repay me twenty percent of the monies, then I will be able to transfer it to your Church so that you can continue your good work with the unfortunate refugees, some of whom appear to be astonishlingly
wealthy; which makes one wonder why they did not simply buy a passport from a corrupt official and fly to a luxury life in the Caribbean, rather than sitting in your back yard. Perhaps their consciences did not allow them to do such an evil deed. Or perhaps they wish to suffer in this life in order to lay up store in heaven.
Please send me a guarantee that you will repay me my commission on my grandfather's money and also all details of all your bank accounts and a specimen of your signature, so that I can commence the transfer.
Up-to-date bank account statements would also help me effect the transfer.
Yours in Christ,
Rory O'Connor.

removing the whites from the eggs.
Just wrap the sausagemeat round the yolks.
(That seems to be what the supermarkets do with their mini scotch eggs)
