What's stuck up your arse then?
Why do you feel the need to enforce this? Are you a moderator?

But coming here, and reading 'omg it's too big!!1' on each thread makes me remember why I stopped coming to the main board.
How does it look to new people coming here? People who might be bloody good drawers/artists/photoshoppers?

cause i do, and for god sake, rules are rules so if you don't like it you can fuck off back to the talk board (:

it's not my fault, but i get charged if i go over, which i do every month ):

The quarter suddenly drops, so to say. Such limits are a rather unfamiliar concept here, all the ISPs do it cap the bandwidth. :|

Never ever ever ask a lady about her 'monthly limits'

It's not your responsibility to enforce rules. If you have a montly limit, it's your responsibility to not exceed them. So don't go to websites that have large files.
But if I were new here, and I saw you (and others) bitching about filesizes, then it wouldn't really make me want to stick around.

if people can't be bothered to read the rules, then i'm going to keep telling them until they fucking well pay attention.

if not, this place becomes very elitist to only those with super fast broadband/no bandwidth restrictions.

Following a couple of simple rules isn't exactly rocket science; anyone who can't follow them deserves all they get...

not a democracy, not a public service page. If
people don't like getting razzed for doing stupid
things like posting huge jpg pictures of text that
could easily be small gifs, then they can ignore
the criticism or try harder or fuck off. You
don't have to be a mod to criticize someone.
Now, please fuck off.

the limits thing is a valid point with bt swearing they are gonna enforce it from now on. But i get your point too. This is my first day back in 6 months, not for the 'limit thing', just because I phased from watching new folk gettin torched - and i've moved between jobs after graduating - which sucks...WORK IS THE EVIL!

"Offering assistance" such as kindly suggesting the gif format for larger images with lots of flat colour.

"MAKE IT SMALLER YOU CUNT!" isn't exactly constructive.

no. no it isn't.
has this person even taken any notice and done something about it? no.
so, if you want to run around after n00bs making thier images smaller for them so that they don't bother learning how to, go for it.

Excuse me for not typing out your exact message, but I grow weary of an argument when I have to keep restating my point in different ways before the opposition can actually pay attention to it.
Would it really take 5 seconds out of your day to be polite to people, instead of calling them knobends? If you're really lazy, you could always have a little message with links in a word document, which you can copy+paste. The point is "That's too big for the board, try these tips to optimise it: XXXXXX" is much better than "knobber".

obviously not.
if you hung around here often enough then you would realise why some of us are so hostile to people who don't pay attention to the rules.
it's not that people are ignoring your point of view, it's that we don't agree with it.
if you ever get spare time then feel free to look back through some more of my posts where you will see that i have previously made images smaller for n00bs, been polite, directed them to the FAQ, and it just doesn't work.
okay?

People *are* pretty civilized here, at least
during the day.
I've very nicely explained to many posters
how they could optimise their post by using
a GIF. I've almost universally been ignored.
Personally, I don't think something like this
is destroying the community. I got badly
razzed early on for posting something quite
glasscock. It didn't make me run away in tears,
but it did make me a lot more careful.
Like I said in another post, b3ta is a community,
a collection of people, in essence, a society.
Like all human institutions, it is far from
perfect. But by trying to tell people what
is 'polite' behaviour, are you so much better
than someone who is trying to tell someone else
to follow the accepted rules of the community?

Tutt is merely trying to point out that there ARE rules . . .

its about bandwidth - many people who use this, even on broadband, have severe bandwidth restrictions...
If people just bothered to read and digest the FAQ for the 'good of all' then it would help
