or just get a deviantart account lollololol

it's the only way to get better.
However, don't go copying anime shit, or anybody else's style, for that matter.
Draw what you feel - draw from life.

Sometimes they'd forget to show up to classes.
not that they didn't show me a thing or two.

This guy was one of my painting teachers, who got me over my very fussy, illustrative habits..
fifteen years ago he was doing these massive, aggro oil paintings but now he's doing piss-awful watercolours

I don't get what's happening around here.

can't describe it. Basically start off with an oval, and add some more basic lines. And for the frontal view, use a cross. Yeah.

and got bored. The thing is I don't have enough time either. I drew these when I got bored in a lesson, going through stuff I knew. All my spare time at home is spent working revising, or pissing about on here cause I am too tired to do anything else.

i'd draw the woodgrain of the desk

Ok. I'm really shit at drawing actual stuff. And seeing as I'm the scientist type, I don't think I'll get much better, which is why I like drawing fantasy stuff.

"seeing as I'm the scientist type" is meaningless shite. i've got a phd (in SCIENCE, BABY) and i'm still dicking around drawing shite pictures, and i believe i get a tiny bit better with each picture i draw. i'm still crap but i'm getting better with each one and i believe i'll end up actually being half-decent.
"drawing fantasy stuff" is a way of saying "i don't think i'll be good enough", which is just another way of giving up. do. not. give. up.

I highly *highly* suggest getting an artists reference book of nude figures. I got one off of amazon for about a tenner. Would link you but I can't find it.
I always struggle when drawing figures but the book I got is bloomin' marvellous! It really helps with the understanding of the shapes of the body and shading.
Also, practice, experiment and have fun.

drawing things shouldn't be work, there's not much point learn to art unless you're having fun with it.

You've got to have an understanding of the body and how it looks.
I would recommend looking at real figures and poses to become familiar with bodies before you try to customise them into a genre.

but if you're looking to draw cartoons, i think the best thing to do is find a shape that you like drawing and start making that your style. my favourites on here for people drawings are happy toast and the we are the lemon, they have really distinctive styles and their characters are instantly identifiable
