# I figured out why art and pip got stuck to their seats

*prepares for haranguing about colouring in*
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 15:49, archived)
# I feel I shall harangue you for not colouring it all in and hopefully circumnavigate your preparations
consider yourself harangued!

HI-YARGH!

# I wanted to
make a sequence of her and scarlet in the cinema and losing her toffie down the side of the seat. However, I am not up to par with my pen yet.
Its starting to get used to it. The nib is receding into the pen however. I have a feeling I will need a new one just when I get used to it.

# is this a graphic tablet I assume
I aquired corel painter x.. trying to do that showed me how shit my cheap ass trust one really is :D

I want rotatey pen functions :(
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:05, archived)
# I had a trust a while back
went with the bamboo this time around its only got an a5 drawing area but it seems perfect.

the rubber on the end however keeps randomly switching on but apart from that its great.
edit I think it cost me about £50 with the postage I'm glad i got it now

# I'm getting into the coloury things..
one of my projects at the moment is colouring in a 5 page section from Akira... a lot of digital colouring I see in comics I think is shit.. and I keep thinking I could probably do better so I have decided to start putting my graphics skills where my mouth is...

or something.

# I'm making a video
as I go along right now. It will be accompanied by a full PDF tutorial of the way I do my digital painting and cell shading.
I'm no expert butt here may be a few tips for you to pick up.
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:20, archived)
# I remember you mentioning previously
and I will deffinately give it a read and a watch.

I also aquired the jeremy sutton corel x dvd guide thing.. but I found him painful to watch. lol. I don't think I'll be using painter x till I get the rotatey pen ability as I cannot be fucked with continually having to rotate the canvas.

(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:23, archived)
# hehe. he is a pain in the arse
( Sutton ) but it's worth browsing through the chapters for tips.
The Fay Sirkis DVD is much more informative and has some good tools with it. ( brushes, palettes etc.) As long as you can get over her annoying speech impediment.
rotating the canvas is second nature to me now but I have it mapped to the buttons on my tablet but it's no hardship to do it from the keyboard. In fact you should get used to doing everything barring your pen-strokes, from the keyboard shortcuts and stop using the gui where possible. It speeds things up massively when you know your tool shortcuts.
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:34, archived)
# I have managed to do so with photoshop
well.. for some things anyway.. although due to work area fail I have to have the key board at a 90 degree angle to me :D
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:50, archived)
# I tend to sit back
in my chair with my feet up on the corner of the desk. The tablet then goes on the slide drawer where the keyboard usually is and it sits perfectly under my right arm and I put the keyboard on my lap under my left hand. I have to turn slightly to see the monitors but it works perfectly for me, until my arse goes numb.

# ok i have considered this at length

It might be that you have long legs or a small desk.

# I would watch
I think the chances are high that I would learn something I didn't know. It wasn't until about 3 days ago I realized I had a "pick tool". I am not big on reading instructions.

# I Like the transparicy options on the layers
I used to just ignore it all but there is allot of nice blending techniques to get rid of seams.
for the katsuit I just copied the section onto a new layer and chose "difference" transparicy and added a few bits and bobs after. painter x is what i use too atm the only thing that anoys me about that is they keep trying to sell me an addon pack
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:21, archived)
# yes I dislike things like that
I bought L ron hubbards book on dianetics *it was 50p in a charity shop* before I knew what it properly was.. as I had only heard it mentioned in a tenacious D song..

through out all of it there are adverts for other products seminars hundreds and hundreds of dollars for audio tapes... I was feeling really down at the time and so was looking for help.. and it almost had me to a point... that is untill I read the bit that claimed they could cure you from being gay.. at which point I bellowed out laughter closed the book and put it down never to be picked up again.

This has led me to an extension of that mental image, whereby he's sitting on a grimy Northern Line seat, attempting, and failing, to engage the proletariat in conversations about growing leeks.

# I always find self defacing small penis jokes more rewarding
you get into a situation with a lady*...

"I thought you said it was massive" ..disenheartening.

"oh you were right after all.. it is a bit small".. well it's what you've said all along

"this penis is not small at all" ego boost.

it is the logical course of action.

EDIT: *or man.. who am I to presupose the straightness of the male readers. saying that even if they're gay I guess they still could end up in a situation with a titted one looking at their male splendour.

# this was my motto for life
I will always remember getting berated by physics teacher at GCSE, a class I was so very often kicked out of mostly for talking, he accused me of not trying to learn and what did I get in my mock exams?

" a D?! are you really happy with that?!"

"Well, it is two grades above what you'd predicted I'd get."

his argument that I was distracting others was blown out of the water completely as Tom, my friend in this story, had got an A.. when I pointed this out i was then instructed to leave the room once more.

yay education!

EDIT: this was my moto for life... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:17, archived)
# But just think...
without you distracting him, Tom could ahve been the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court by now...

instead, he's only got an A in GCSE Physics...
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 16:19, archived)
# if you knew tom
that sentence would fill you with fear.

He has how ever just got back from spending a year teaching english in japan.

I was pissed and confused... he didn't seem that appreciative of the magnificence of my pissed up candence*.

although one of the lasses who was in The Decent, who was with him, seemed more engaged in my banterous wonderment... but then again she is an actress...

Yay horror film festivals :D

*EDIT: although memory has just kicked in and this could easily of been because I may of said that I had no idea who he was untill someone told me... :D
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 15:55, archived)
# Hahaha
I have a feeling you'll need to be pissed to truly appreciate it but I have no problem with that. Roll out of the pub about midnight, go see LVK, kebab, home. Sounds like a great night
(, Fri 30 Jan 2009, 15:58, archived)
# there was a 5 min preview during said horrorfilm festival, frightfest,
the footage that was shown was pretty funny... also I appreciate the directors honest when I asked him "why lesbian vampire killers?"

# ^this with particularly shiney bells on
so good that the americans started remaking it before it had even been released in their country..
