# Ah, the famous Battenburg plant
Created in 1802 by General Von Fatcake, the General was looking for something which could quench his hunger for cakes, while he himself enjoyed his hobby of gardening.
He employed his best men to track down leading gardeners and the best scientists Britain, and during the "Women's Fest" in Dudley they happened upon a way of combining the two into what we now know is the Battenburg plant.

Nowadays it's a plant for fatties, normally found in offices about the UK.

# it doesn't work unless you splice it with another plant that has a developed root system.
A friend of mine successfully spliced a strawberry plant with a hops plant. The resulting brew was impossible to drink.
(, Mon 16 Mar 2009, 10:10, archived)
# I should point out that this idea of 'splicing'
is simply slicing a nice long diagonal cut on the stem & sticking a similarly sliced plant on top. From a similar genus.

# KIDS:
Experiment at home! Just remember that if it dies you kill two plants and if it survives you still kill one.
(, Mon 16 Mar 2009, 10:18, archived)
# Unless!
You use the other offcuts to make another! If it fails, still two plants, if they live, no plants have to die!
Yay save the plants
