# Oh what the heck - Cockblister or not, I need to get this out of my head!

Clicketybig [118k]

Because it was such a disappointment. Had some really funny bits but on the whole derivative and terrible - proof that Naylor without Grant is just a waste of time...

though I appear to be alone in this. It's fucking awful and Larry David can't act for fucking toffee. More importantly, it's just not funny which kind of defeats the point.

and it ended with Back To Reality, which is my fave episode.

Can you believe they've got the balls to have this out on DVD for £13...?

If you've seen Bladerunner, The LOG film, the Back To Reality episode and then forgotten all the good bits - you wouldn't even need to bother!

# it was pretty bad, but not that bad
i think the mistake that most people made was not being drunk enough when they watched it
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:05, archived)
# I think it would have been better if they'd not done the despair/elation squid ending and made it all tie up into a pointless little episode.
And also had a massive proper shoot out at the ending.
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:08, archived)
# i reckon what they needed was less action/drama
red dwarf works best as a low-budget cheesy sitcom full of one-liners and canned laughter and terrible special effects
ed: that said, i'm probably going to end up buying the dvd and watching it again and enjoying it :D
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:12, archived)
# Yes!
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:13, archived)
# Yeah but what would be the point of doing it similar to the old series?
It's already been done, it would have made more sense to do something original (though a lot less mawkish and sentimental) then after all the surreal metareferencing bits they have a big gun battle until everyone is left silent and possibly dead or not dead.

Like Blake 7
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:16, archived)
# i guess that's what the director was going for
the script probably seemed a lot better on paper
(, Tue 14 Apr 2009, 19:17, archived)
# It's definitely what I'm going to do anyway.
I'm going to write a really camp and shit American TV comedy like Will & Grace for six years purely so on the very final episode they are all pulled into Hell and made to sit judgement for their time on earth and end up carving chunks out of each other in a barbaric cannibal forced orgy at the end.

would not say it was the best thing I ever saw but then again it was not that bad.

sort of a 6.5 out of 10 from me then.

# what made you say "derivative" rather than "unoriginal?"
just a language question, not trying to take the piss

the first episode was alright, but the second and third i've already pretty much forgotten :(

It had several funny bits but seemed to have a lot of dead time between the laughs.

Plus - how do you fit 4 grown men into a smart car that has 2 seats?
