# almost forgot

Wednesday 3pm Draw off 13th May 2009

Kings and Queens wins - you weird roylaist freaks!

Oh well, post your drawings of members of the royal family on Wednesday at 3pm

Fascist laws - Please don't vote if you're not drawing.
Please don't use the Wednesday thread as a pointless repost thread.
You don't have to enter so please stop gaz'ing me saying its not fair because you don't have a pencil.
If you are inspired by the subject but not to draw, why not post after the drawing thread?
I'm just trying to create a pleasant drawy oasis in the storm, please join me for a dip, but no pissing in the shallow end cheers.

Can you imagine that as an episode of Blind date?!
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:40, archived)
# I would do but by your own token I am not allowed to vote...
Dammit I'm going to vote anyway. It's our board too - we deserve a say in what is going to occupy a large thread on Wednesday!

Fight the power!

;)

Edit humm actually I think it's a relatively moot point since it looks like K&Q is going to pwn the vote...
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:40, archived)
# ok, I'll stop doing the draw off then
*fights the power*

# I'm quite inspired by the fascist laws.
Anyone wanna put me in jail for a few years so I can come up with some of my own?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:31, archived)
# Ooo, difficult choice!
Got to be Dredd though for me.

... but I bet we end up with Ace Trucking Inc or something daft.

I don't have a pencil!

what time is breakfast?

# I'd do any that aren't frigging Star Wars
so I voted for Kings and Queens, as that sounds fun and there's a lot of scope.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:33, archived)
# ^
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:35, archived)
# Ohhh, is that literally just Kings and Queens?
I thought it was some obscure comic I'd never heard of. About flamboyant homosexuals in a post apocalyptic Mad Max enviroment.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:36, archived)
# If it is, I've not heard of it
not that that's to say it's not a comic, I'm fairly comic-stupid.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:37, archived)
# Or 'Tonight's the Night' with John Barrowman, as it's currently called.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:39, archived)
# Just reading the wikipedia description of that is making me angry.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:53, archived)

(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:38, archived)
# there had better be a fuck load of King and Queen drawings or I'm going to be pissed off
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:39, archived)
# Alright, snappy, no need to bite my eyes out.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:39, archived)

(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:42, archived)

although I suppose I'm in the wrong place to do that!

Kings and Queens, or Dredd....
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:34, archived)
# Vote kings and queefs.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:35, archived)
# I understand why you only want people to vote that draw

And I fully intend to draw some stuff this week. But only if my choice is the winning one.
I just don't know enough about the other options.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:34, archived)
# If you are inspired by the subject but not to draw

so if it's a photoshop you can't enter?

(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:34, archived)
# depends, if it's just a filter over a photo of something then I'd rather not
if you're drawing in Photoshop with your mouse or tablet then yes please do.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:36, archived)
# okay
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:37, archived)

so there.

*may actually draw something..if I can get my scanner to work
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:39, archived)
# now you're setting rules. It can only end in tragedy
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:45, archived)
# same rules it started with about 3 years ago
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:46, archived)
# and looked what happened then
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:47, archived)
# me, thor, bobs, ironman and a fair few others had a really great time drawing each week
and people commented on the pictures

(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:50, archived)
# haha
feel lucky that people actually enter it...limiting people to what they can and can't do is counter productive and a bit shit.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:51, archived)
# then don't join in and if it really annoys you ignore the thread
I don't get what the problem is?

If there was a day out in the park for people on skateboards would you turn up on a quad bike?

It's just a harmless "does anyone want to draw X" thing. I thought I was being overly polite by inviting people AND letting them choose the subject.
If it's that sick and wrong I'll stop annoucing it and just post the result of my own choice on a wednesday instead.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:57, archived)
# oh dry your eyes, I've got better things to worry about than your draw off rules..oh and in other news have you seen this?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:04, archived)
# did you delete that comment
before or after reading my reply?

I'm all for open ended drawing fun and games, but that is what 99% of B3ta is about, this is one thread of something else. Just run with it, you might be surprised by how it makes your brain think in a different direction.

And if people can't handle the chains and manacles of evil oppression, why don't we run two threads, 3pm is the draw off, 3.15 is the same title but as open ended, abstract, mixed media and freeform as you like?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:28, archived)
# sigh
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:37, archived)
# They've been allowed in the past, e.g.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:38, archived)
# it's not like anything gets allowed or disallowed at the end of the day
Although I may give up organising it again if it does turn in to a constant repost event
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:40, archived)
# I won't repost
But I haven't got a clue what I'm going to do with Kings & Queens...

# Well. I likes it
And for once am going to draw sommat
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:52, archived)
# Naw, it could be quite good actually,
erm, when I think of something.

# uh oh
i just picked up a piece of paper and monged out a bit, that isn't good :O
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:40, archived)
# I'll have a go, even though I'm not normally a drawer
- kings and queens, please. That sounds a bit easier for the rubbish people like me.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:42, archived)
# I'm baffled as to how drawing likenesses of real people
is easier than cartoon characters
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:44, archived)
# I wasn't planning on drawing any real kings or queens
that would be really hard. Just something with a royal theme.
I was hoping to go a bit lateral...
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:49, archived)
# *cries*
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:51, archived)
# I'm doing the Queen of Canada

how very...
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:42, archived)
# woo 28 votes already
should be a goodun :)
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:42, archived)
# 28 pictures? wow, that's a lot of royalists
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 13:49, archived)
# can't see how many voted for each but total votes in poll is 34 now
(think there is an option to display figs next to each bar when you create the poll tho) personally if it's kings and queens i'm gonna try to be a bit lateral with it :)
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:03, archived)
# so why suggest the title if you're not actually drawing Kings and Queens?
Don't get me wrong people, I'm not adverse to lateral interpretation, but why not therefore have a lateral interpretation challeneg/compo/thread. See who can come up with the most fantastic left field approach to a subject?

I really don't get why itsso hard to get what I'm trying to do here :D
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:11, archived)
# ok! ok!
I'll try and draw an actual historical personage.

*soothes and reassures*

it'll be crap, mind.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:15, archived)
# i suggested the title as i felt it had potential for plenty of interest and interpretation = more peeps joining in
would be nothing wrong for example with doing a portrait of graham norton in fine regalia is there?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:26, archived)
# ok, you seem to have misunderstood the orginal point of the draw off
people say what they want to draw and we draw it, it's quite literal.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 14:49, archived)
# my mistake
too used to trying to answer briefs in an interesting & original way :)
Q: how many art directors does it take to change a light bulb?
A: does it have to be a light bulb?
