This is a normal post Superglue works better still

This is a normal post Yeah, it works, but it's a lot of faff.
I did a couple of 45s to the get shit off from parties back in the late 70s, and it worked well but getting every last bit of dried glue off can be time consuming. Too much glue and it takes forever to dry, not enough and it doesn't come off cleanly, but it does work.

This is a normal post Yeah, it works...
PVA glue doesn't adhere to non-porous material, including PVC and other material records are typically made of. It will penetrate the record's groove and trap particles in there, pulling them out when it has set and is removed.

However, it'll do fuck all for wear and damage, which is an inherent property of records.

Same job, 5 seconds.

This is a normal post Might not shift oily deposits though.
Spray on isopropyl alcohol then dry with compressed air would do it.

This is a normal post Where would the oil go?
It wouldn't evaporate in the IPA
(, Fri 18 Oct 2019, 6:01, Reply)
This is a normal post Yeah, you'd need to rinse the record with distilled water to move any contaminants out of the groove.
That said, pure IPA is generally not recommended for cleaning PVC, as it tends to evaporate too quickly to be an effective cleaning agent, can potentially remove chemical additives (plasticizers, protective coatings), and may adversely react with other chemicals (e.g. acetic acid) and damage the material.

There's also the risk of damaging the record's label by applying liquids to it.

Then 8 bar of air then.

Works for removing crude oil.

This is a normal post One of these is the best way.
They cost a bit initially, but they can make almost dead records come back to life.

This is a normal post You could just stick with the "wet play" option
As long as you are prepared to commit to it, it does work very well. The downside is that any muck dries back onto the surface, meaning you have to use it every time.
I wouldn't use any proprietary fluids which can leave additional residues - just a mix of isopropyl alcohol and deionised water.
There are arguments that it reduces wear due to a water film lubricating the contact surface, but that's also said to cause distortion.
Sounded fine to me!

Stick them in the washing machine at 60 degrees, then dry them over a radiator.
