Good for him
for some reason I've always imagined him to be older.
Jeni Barnett is a nasty piece of work.

One more nail in her broadcasting coffin
I hope.
I have to switch off LBC at 1pm every day to avoid her uninformed drivel.
Give James O'Brian another 3 hours! (Or better still, bring back Iain Lee)

LBC have played this wrong from the start
Playing the copyright card early on spread the story much further than it would have done otherwise and their lack of comment and trying to brush it all under the carpet is counter-productive

"We reject any suggestion that we don't take public health issues responsibly."
Um, ok...what about any suggestions that you can't even release a media statement in basic English?
Obviously, my confidence in your academic credentials and the veracity of your wild editorialising just skyrocketed as I read that.
Jesus.

Arf
He has touched on the subject.
The trouble is, the government and the drug companies can be fecking big liars and their own agendas/profits often take precedence over the truth.
I think the majority of us have read Ben Goldacre's blog and/or book, all thanks to the oxygen Ben Goldacre has been given on this site (yay!) along with all the scaremonger stories.
Others may only hear the drug companies and/or government screaming "The MMR jab doesn't cause autism" and just don't believe them. Who can blame them?
A case of the boy who cried wolf, methinks.
Top link!

Pretty much every business has done something dodgy
Pharma is no exception.
It's all coming out now though. Even though the drugs companies are pretty much clean now (as the consequences of getting caught are dire)... the sins of the past are now getting dug up.
Nevertheless, Pharma buying a Doctor and his wife expensive dinners, or overstating the effectiveness of antidepressants is one thing.
Ignorant presenters flaming the fires of a public health disaster is another. The latter won't get fined.

More like this please!
The original test was done on 12 children wasn't it? I'm pretty sure there were more than 12 children in the world with the MMR vaccine at that time. I wouldn't be surprised if they all were taken from a learning disabilities centre.
