Judge's remarks during Max 'Nonce' Clifford's sentencing.
It really does make depressing but also great reading. Judge gets 1,000,000 internet points for section 19. Fucking awesome!

if max has lied about his past and all that he has done and now been found guilty of
what about all the peoples careers he has saved or helped to push under? surely there must be some review of these now that he has been legaly proven to be a liar and a sexfiend

I think he'd score quite highly on the psycopath test
not only does he show no remorse but he appears to not understand what the whole fuss is about

Ah, the favourite two arguments of the Daily Mail:
1) Nonces? Cut their balls off and string 'em up, it's the only language they understand.
2) Bloody Islamics and their 'Sharia Law'. Barbarians. Not like the rule of law we have in Blighty...

As said above ^
I've met quite a few PR people through work and meeting friend's friends.
They never appear genuine. I could never tell if they were still 'on' and
doing what they do at work.

It's an 'industry' with mendaciousness at its very core
You can't be successful at PR and also be a nice person who considers personal morals when crafting nice public personas for equally horrid capitalists and slave driving corporations. You have to be a cunt. None of the character revelations in the Clifford case surprise me in the slightest.

What about barristers?
They are paid to put the point if view of the worst in society and you aren't monstering them.

I agree in part
But everyone has the right to a defence, however monstrous. I would argue that (some) lawyers are in effect a necessary evil. I'd rather live in a society without PR workers.

Possible one in paragraph 53 too.
I suspect he meant 'elusive' rather than 'illusive'.
Cue the appeal based on spelling errors in the sentencing...

agreed, that's defo an error. was this guy using voice recognition software? it's near enough another homophone. but i think not. i found reading it a bit of a chore as it was stylistically poor in places, and in the past i've read a lot of dry and formal legalese, but this came across as undergraduate level legalese, not that of a fucking judge.
( , Fri 2 May 2014, 18:30, Reply)
yeah, i could see that being quite likely, and believing that spell and grammar check equates with proofreading.

why do you so rarely use the uneditable subject line?
and did you manage to grasp the concept that was trying to be communicated? (regardless of spelling and grammar)

only when the edit occurs after a reply
which can change the perceived context of said reply. seems pretty reasonable to me.
edit: note how i highlight this edit. it signifies to other readers that my original post has been altered. to get personal: it's about honesty and integrity for me. you choose your own path, nay bother.

In my defence my reply was simply 'oh'. When I began the edit your reply was not up. I didn't change any meaning, just added something that addressed a point you made that I disagreed with. As for honesty and integrity that's a bit harsh. I deleted a reply once and then copied and pasted it to a comment in the same thread which it was more relevant to. I have never deleted any other comments, and that includes stuff that was epic mental tantrums that made me cringe when I re-read sober.
