Which is also link to show who liked it.

On the 'friends' tab, could there be a way of filtering what types of posts you see?
When you click on the friends tab, you see ALL of what your friends like on b3ta, not just the pictures, but sometimes talk posts, QOTW answers and so forth.

Could there be a way of filtering this in your profile so you only see the types of posts from your friends that you wish to see? - e.g. Pictures only, /talk posts, /QOTW answers
etc or a combination thereof? - maybe a simple 'tickbox' in the profile to accept various types of posts from friends which have been clicked on

Sometimes when clicking on 'friends' there can sometimes be nearly a whole page of text before you see an image, if that's what you want to see.

It might help people narrow down the type of posts they wish to see from their 'friends' on b3ta.

Just a thought.

Forget about them fucking /talk tarts
How abouts the best "I made this!" videos from the links board are put on the Front Page, maybe an embedded video or some such in the usual FP column, or in some other cubby hole off on the side? For most screen resolutions now days it would seem that b3ta has quite a bit of space either spare or not very crowded, so overcrowding oughtn't be too much of a problem.

It may also promote people to make their own videos, which would be nice to see and would make /links more interesting to visit, also lowering the risk of seeing the same youtube video enough times that it becomes of same fame as the fabled GlassCock.

Putting good videos in the newsletter is all fine and dandy, but it only happens once a week or so and then it's something special, that's put to one side, and not a usual part of everyday b3ta happenings. Putting good videos as part of the Front Page would normalise it somewhat and promote the concept a little more.

A perfect candidate for this, in my opinion, and also to support my reasoning for why, is:
b3ta.com/links/nine_million_rats_inside_my_mind

Pwetty Pweese with a cherry on top? I also remember asking for a "Read More" option on Question of the Week, which then for whatever reason turned up one day, so I'm not totally retarded; I have some good ideas! I also have a load of shit ones, like coaxing Rob round my house for tea, biscuits and buggery - somehow I don't think he'd approve, even if I did use margarine.

About the only time it get's interesting on /talk these days is when someone deletes a post and everyone starts wobbling and flouncing.
Could you create some sort of robot that marches around /talk deleting a randomly chosen post every fifteen minutes?

Thread deleting whores.
Currently on /talk we have a bit of a problem with idiots, many of whom are streetwalking prostitutes, deleting entire threads, which causes great annoyance to those of us who do not have anonymous sex in cars for a living.
Could deleted posts be replaced with the words "deleted post" and allow the rest of the thread to remain?
Please?
Pretty please?

Bandwagon 'compo'
Can there be a way to collate bandwagons? We had a mini compo for lolchairs but it would be nice to be able to keep all the others together and look back at some of them e.g. the BBC ambulance competition and erm I'm sure there were others that were funny.
It also gives people no excuse to see if it's bindun too.

Problem is who sets up a bandwagon and where do you stop? (or you'll get a bandwagon of people creating 1 image wagons....) I'll leave that to you clever people.

what was so bad...

about /all anyway?

Why was it 'secret' in the first place? and why has it been taken away without explanation? It's not like it put people off posting is it?

Why is it one rule for image comps and another for QotW? I know some grief was dished out because high-voted QotW suggestions apparently 'weren't being listened to' but couldn't the /all feature can be used for QotW only?

/all was a great thing...and I miss it like fuck. I loved watching people's posts 'climb the charts' as it were...

Perhaps a view to the /all page could be handed out as a passworded 'prize' for winning the QotW? - with the possibility of it being revoked if the privilidge is seen to be abused?

Or even made an option on your account details?

Or even become part of a 'premium' account? - for people who have made a donation?

Or you could just bring it back...and help everybody out.

I frequently backspazz to my old posts to see if anyone responded after i logged off, by clicking on my post count in my profile
which is great. but could you perhaps do for this page what you did for others, putting a "reply" counter on the "see more" link? would save some trouble for my already very exhausted clicking fingers etc.

Puns!
Some people love 'em, others hate them.

So why not have a "This is a pun" checkbox when posting QOTW answers?

There could be an option not to display any pun posts for those that were against them, and for those that liked them, they could be displayed as usual, without spoiling the punny suprise.

I know that the "I don't like this" button idea has been summarily rejected
but I think a "this is spam" button would be really great; require, say, five or more individual clicks before a post is deleted or hidden, much like any Youtube comments page. This way we can prevent longer thread replies to spam posts as opposed to genuinely good posts by the few good Samaritans simply clicking "spam" rather than posting "you suck lolol."

Dear Jim
Can you fix it so that the /all thing works again?

Thanks,
(, Thu 20 Nov 2008, 20:31, Reply)
when posting a picture on the main board
perhaps a space for tags as well as many puns are word-based so if you do a 'flesh gordon' pic but type 'Flash Gordon' into search to see if it's bindun, or even don't allude to the picture subject at all, there's greater chance of repetition of concepts.

Just a thought. Thank you.

Now that replies to QOTW entries are nested, the "N replies" at the bottom of each entry only shows the numer of replies to the original post, which means you can't tell if anybody's responded to your oh-so-witty remark without continually clicking on that link.

Shirley it would be better to show the total number of replies, not just those at the top level?

mobile log on
Log on from phones such the i-phone and the like is probably possible, but for those of us with normal phones with internet access you can't log in to b3ta to make a post. Could this be sorted out please, thank you

QOTW Stars.
I thought that, if you win the QOTW, and also have your answer on the newsletter, and have a qotw suggestion put up. Then you should be a QOTW Star, and get a little QOTW Star symbol put next to your name.

Just a thought, might be cool.

Would we be able to have a space to easily upload a pic for our profiles?
Just a couple of clicks, nice and easy.

And being able to go back through people's previous profile pics too would be fabulously great.

Then, once everyone's got a pic, it would probably make sense to let people write on their profiles who their friends are, and their friends friends, and their friend's little sister who was cute 10 years ago when you were 15, and her pet bunny.

Perhaps have a bit for their favourite fucking bands, so we can browse round, muttering, "Hey, they've heard of McFly, they'll probably want to be my new best friend! If only I had a way to tell them I thought they were cool without having to go to the trouble of actually talking to them". Maybe if you had a way of letting people jab each other with big, rusty period trombones.

But what would best friends be, if they couldn't see each other's pics? Or write notes to each other that everyone could see, because we're all so interested in your flirting, so happy you chose to advertise it so openly, and are hanging on every cheeky wink.

I STILL want my qotw stats to show in my profile
RAR!!!!

p.s. I agree with pooflake a popular posts would be good though it may take the excitement out of waiting for the best of page at the end of the week.

But yeh stats NOW! We may be fluffy pussy little gays in qotw but I have a dream that my fellow QOTWers will one day post on a site where they will not be judged by the quality of their posts but by the contents of their underwear.

we need
a 'this is shit' button for the QOTW

Firefox prob?
When you click on your username at the top and list all your posts, if you click on a post that you have made in reply to someone elses, you get taken to a blank page.

If you were the original poster, then it displays the post and all replies.

I'm using FF 3.03 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092510 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.3), under Ubuntu 8.04.

Sheep
The "most popular" link in the image challenge ensures that entries which got early votes continue to stay at the top because many people just look at that page. The lack of such on QOTW is a fairer system.

Now there is a deep linking skill for youtube, could you please enable it to work on the /links board. Many thanks. Oh, and an editable Subject line in the replies.

Ta!

Could you add a "stalk hot chicks" function. I'm really just too busy at the moment to sift through everyones profiles to find them.

Username protection
During hallowe'en, a few of us in QOTW Off Topic changed our usernames for japes. Some fools hijacked some of the original names and, despite most getting their name back, a couple didn't.

Naive I know, but these things happen.

So, would it be possible to protect original usernames from being claimed for up to 72 hours after they've been released, except by the user who released it? This would stop names being stolen for malicious purposes. This may not be the best implementation of this idea, but you get my meaning.

Any further suggestions along this line?
