This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

Falling in love.
Because I thought it was supposed to make you happy.

Yeah
And what a pile of wrong that turns out to be!

Well, that's you at the top of the "best of" list again...

Nah
It's a chemical problem.
It can be fixed with lead.
High velocity, cranial lead.

unrequited love
is better in a way, then at least its only you being the fool.

Nooo!
I've know lots of people who have fallen in love and none of them were happy.

*Wonders why she's never been in love*

On the other hand, my new black shiny biker boots have made me very happy.

*Strokes her new boots*

Mmmm...
*appreciates boots*

I've got my army boots on, yay!

@Kaol
Mmmmmm! army boots. I used to live in second hand army boots. I used to call them my dead men's boots.

In fact I think boots make me happier than any man could.

I live in these
I had to clean some sick off them though...
*frowns*

They seem to be about the only thing that's easy to get hold of in my size.

Falling in love hurts
It makes us vulnerable and clouds our judgement. Give me pixie dust and distractingly pretty flowers!

One of my favourite Greek songs is an oldie called "Pio Kali h Monaxia", which means "solitude is better".

Continuing the Greek theme, there's a lovely line in Captain Correlli's Mandolin (the book). Yiannis is talking to Pelagia about her situation. It goes something like this;

"Being in love is temporary insanity. When one's insides are in turmoil and we are overcome with desire..... It's like when the trees are in blossom. But the blossom falls from the tree. Real love is what comes after being in love - like two trees that have grown together 'til their roots are entwined beneath the ground, so that one could not endure without the other..."

Now, that is worth holding out for.

*hugs CHCB again*

All too true
Army (German or Dutch) boots are far better and last longer, especially when worn on an ancient motorcycle.
Add Pixie dust and the picture is perfect.

As Jeff says:
Well maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who'd out drew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
(, Fri 27 Jun 2008, 17:17, closed)
Yep.
Never again. :(

The thing with falling in love is, they also have to fall in love with you.
*puts on Radiohead's 'Creep' again*

Being in love really sucks"

Love
I sometimes feel that being in love or infatuated is similar to the symptoms of a mental disorder. It takes little to change your mood from euphoric to depressed (especially for infatuations).

But saying that, we should all enjoy what we have, and who knows - maybe we will eventually be lucky enough to experience true love.

But I just want to say this:

Love like you've never been hurt
Work like you don't need the money
Dance like noone's watching

etc.

Or as Chumbawamba put it:

I get knocked down. I get up again. You're never gonna keep me down.

@ Chennoble
Jeff?

Leonard said it so much better the first time.

And if you want good cover versions, any of the versions recorded by Rufus Wainright are - IMHO - better than Buckley's.

A click in sympathy
Half of me really wants to fall in love again but the other half is afraid of the eventual disappointment that would (barring a miracle) follow.

Being in love can suck but so can being lonely.

I'm trying my best to avoid it at the moment.
