This is a question B3TA fixes the world

Moon Monkey says: Turn into Jeremy Clarkson for a moment, and tell us about the things that are so obviously wrong with the world, and how they should be fixed. Extra points for ludicrous over-simplification, blatant mis-representation, and humourous knob-gags.

Have a sensible approach to "average people".
I don't fit in bus seats designed for "average people", because my legs are too long. I can't use ATMs positioned for "average people" because the screen is level with my waist (and the ones that are positioned for people in wheelchairs I need to sit on the ground to use).

Also, anyone who thinks Body Mass Index is a useful indicator of anything and who reckons 6' tall and 17 stone is overweight can try carrying a 30' scaffolding pole up a 24-storey building.

Sorry to say but 17 stone means you ARE over weight.
Simon. (6' 4" / 12.5 stone)

Perhaps...
If you go by his BMI. In reality he may be a massive bloke used to carrying daft loads up buildings all day, and therefore not overweight, merely well muscled.
BMI is a blind weapon, used far too much in diagnosing weight issues.

But...
..at 6 foot you're only 2 inches above average height for a male in the UK (5'10"). In the Netherlands you might even be slightly below average.

Exactly.
I have similar problems to the OP with seats being too small and ATMs too low and I'm about an inch above average height for a bloke in the UK.
The problem seems to be that things like bus seats are built to specifications dating back to times when war rationing and poor diet meant the average height was about 6 inches shorter than today.
If I recall correctly six foot is about the average height for a male in the Netherlands. I put their gigantism down to the fact they live below sea level so have to keep their heads above water.

Do you carry the scaffold poles on top of your Accord Van?

Where do you get
30' scaffold tubes from? I've never seen one bigger than 22', and I've been involved with scaffolding for nearly 9 years.

You've been carrying average scaffold poles.
