Mums
Mrs Liveinabin tells us: My mum told me to eat my vegetables, or I wouldn't get any pudding. I'm 32 and told her I could do what I like. I ate my vegetables. Tell us about mums.

Memory loss
Just a teeny observation of my mum now she has just turned 60.
When she wants to address me she goes through the whole family before she gets my name right, sisters, dad and dog included!? I just let her do it, as eventually she does get there by which time I have ususally left the room...
Has anyone elses mum lossed the power of memory in their older age?
Apart from that she is awesome!

My mam has always done that
I wouldn't mind so much but I'm her only daughter and she goes through my brother's names before she gets to me!

My mum too
My brothers and the male grandchildren usually come first. I usually help her out by just reminding her of my name. Saves time.

My great grandmother (103 when she died!)

A friend of mine gets annoyed when her Dad gets her and her sister's name confused
But they're called Naomi (prettier) and Natalie (great rack) so it's fair enough
My Dad gets mine and MY SISTER'S names confused
I'm a BOY
Whatever it says on the toilet wall

Well if you will name your child Fido
this sort of thing is only to be expected.

My mum's done that all my life
I have four sisters, and she grew up with two sisters and a brother, so often she'll use the wrong name a couple of times before settling on the correct one. For some reason though the running joke in our family is for her or somebody listening to throw the name "Maud!" into the list. Never understood why.

My mum's always got our names wrong
Just now she's old she feels like she has an excuse.

for some strange reason
tradition in my family states that, despite the given name, all people must be referred to/called upon with either Dan or Tam.
There are no Daniels anywhere in my family tree, and only one Thomas - who is on a lower branch than I am.

with so many mums doing this, i just hope it's not subliminal ranking, as like most peeps my mum sez the dogs/cat's name first :S.....mind you she fucking loves that dog :\

I do it too
Except I confuse my niece, nephew and both dogs. Somehow. I blame my mother who started it all.
On a semi-related note, my dad's mum called my nephew Douglas despite him being known as Daniel to everyone else.

my mum does this too
but, as i have 2 sisters, one brother, 54 cousins, 11 aunts(on my mother's side) and 10 uncles(also on mother's side), it can take quite some time to get my name right

I still answer if someone calls
"Andy!" as that's my brother's name. Embarrassing when it's also your bosses name

Routinely....
My mother regularly calls me Billy, Ricky, or Robby (her brothers' names), Pat (dad), Ray (her uncle). But what really made me concerned was when she called me Audrey (paternal grandmother) a few months ago. Now, I am her only child - a fat 30-year-old biologist. My grandmother was 96, quite thin/frail, and very happily retired for 35 years. Apparently, my mother couldn't tell the difference.
