Hey Jason,
I like a few covers, I saw a grimey punk band do my girl's mad at me by Madness, and it was amazing.
Film re-makes, however, I am dead against. I don't mind adapting stuff in to films, but remaking films just seems a bit lazy.

The laziest film remake I know of is 'Let Me In', as it's supposedly a shot-for-shot remake of the original
Made for people too stupid to be able to read during films.

I know of neither the original, or the re-make,
take your crazy cult b-movies somewhere else, and stop making me feel inadequate. :(

As a martial arts film collector I have two distinct viewpoints.
The modern, big-budget epics need to be in Chinese and subtitled for gravitas. However proper old-skool kung fu films have to be overdubbed for that vintage experience.

I have to watch almost all films dubbed these days,
due to the ladypig being partially sighted. I have also mastered reading incidental subtitles in films in inappropriate voices to wind her up.

A mates band did a more guitar-y cover of Eleanor Rigby
for a Christmas gig which was far better than the original, and they kept getting asked to play it but they weren't really sure of their legal position. Every so often they'd just go "fuck it" and play it.
