Musicals are for benders: Discuss?

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:08, 94 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Agreed
I find them utterly shite
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:09, Reply)
The only one I enjoyed was Jerry Springer the Operah.
I would probably enjoy that mormon one as well.
But that's ok, because I'm not a gay.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:09, Reply)
They are all bobbins

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:11, Reply)
I dunno, you sound a bit gay here.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:13, Reply)
I like to sing along to the Anvil Chorus while hitting my balls with a pair of hammers.

He could avoid impulse buys like this if he used a propolis (proper list)

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 12:00, Reply)
They rarely have any musical merit.
Which surely rather defeats the object.
Pretty bent though, yes.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:11, Reply)
There is nothing to discuss, of course they fucking are.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:12, Reply)
I know that,
you know that,
the board knows that...
However Al is under the impression that it's ok for him firstly to go, secondly to enjoy it and thirdly and most importantly admit to it.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:14, Reply)
He's made a number of serious errors here and no mistake. What an Al.
How's the new gaff, Chomperoonie?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:15, Reply)
It's very good. The other half moved in yesterday.
The van she rented broke down on the way and she was stuck in a tesco car park in St Neotts for 4 1/2 hours. But it got fixed and everything was sorted so it wasn't too bad.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:17, Reply)
Did she have to pole dance for the repair man?

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:18, Reply)
You being mean to me online is not going to hurt me.
I'm immune to your bullying, as I'm getting my new phone tomorrow.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:23, Reply)
I'm always impressed by the way you ignore all my comments about your girlfriend being a stripper/pole dancer/hooker/empowered

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:25, Reply)
I am rubber, you are glue.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:26, Reply)
Genuine question
Is she any of the above or is this just Al based lols?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)
She was until recently a stripper yes.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:29, Reply)
Really?
I thought it was just an internet truth, like me being a cunt, or Captain Placid being a reasonable human being with valid opinions on crime and punishment?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:31, Reply)
Yes really.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:32, Reply)
Cool.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:43, Reply)
It seems silly to actively enjoy something without first checking with the internet if this is acceptable or not.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:17, Reply)
What kind of cunt would do that?

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:18, Reply)
The answer to that is the Al type of cunt.

I fear the opinions of the words.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:18, Reply)
Completely ignoring the question
But I wonder if any of you can give me an answer:

speaking with the missus last night I said that not only to Popes take a new name when they take on the role, but I am fairly sure it used to be standard practise for monarchs to do the same. I cant however give any examples but I ma sure I read it or heard it somewhere. Is there anyone able to confirm this or should I stand in a corner with a conical hat on?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:19, Reply)
I think you're wrong.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:22, Reply)
I endorse this opinion

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:23, Reply)
You're forgetting Henry VII who was raised as Gerald Higginbottom until his coronation

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:28, Reply)
well a day you learn something
is never a wasted day
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:37, Reply)
Really?
I am sure it has happened, and I am also pretty sure that should Charlie boy ever actually get to be king he was going to take the name George, rather than his own name due to the house of Stuart connection. This would also mean that Harry would be known as Henry ~(HRH)
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)
Think for kings they can choose to use any of their Christian names?
e.g. George VI's first name was Albert, George was one of his other Christian names.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:26, Reply)
I'll stick up for you here.
Yes it is common practice for monarchs to choose their regnal name.
For example, George VI was Prince Albert before he became king.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)
NO, YOUN A PRINCE ALBERT

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)
Thanks tangles
And you loksey.

And Pft "prince albert"

I thoroughly enjoy musicals and would heartily recommend Chicago, Wicked and Legally Blonde in particular to anyone who enjoys a jolly good night out
I assume this closes the discussion
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:21, Reply)
You're not helping me at all here.
But thanks for the recommendations.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:24, Reply)
It's important that you choose not to let the opinions of others stopping you from expressing who you are
Chicago is fucking brilliant, honestly. Even better than Wicked and I do not say that lightly.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:28, Reply)
Really?
So why is it a place where ex soap stars go to die? At least the people in Wicked are professionally trained singers/dancers etc. not just has been soap actors.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:30, Reply)
High-profile show, been running a long time, most of the cast are proper theatre stars
but it's always had a practice of getting celebs in for single roles. Think it reinvigorates interest - it's something like the second longest-running West End show after Les Mis. When I saw it, we had the Hoff. Oh yes.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:32, Reply)
I'm going to see Les Miserables in April. I hate musicals.
This one apparently doesn't have any spoken words in it at all. I'm hoping this means that there won't be any contrived chorus lines forming from random passers by or whatever. I'm not hoping very hard, mind.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:25, Reply)
So, somebody bought you tickets for something you hate
and instead of saying "Yeah thanks, I'm gonna sell these and keep the money instead" you are subjecting yourself to an evening of something you dont enjoy?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:26, Reply)
Sounds like the actions of a GAY to me.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)

Well GAY.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:29, Reply)
No, I bought tickets to something that I hate as a present for somebody else.
I am going because they want to go with me. I am being manfully silent.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:27, Reply)
+to get some hole

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:28, Reply)
If hole is the motivation
take some tissues, apparently it gets pretty weepy.
Then you can look chivalrous which helps in the hole-chasing, and if unsuccessful you can have a cinemawank without messing up your clothes.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:32, Reply)
^expert advice^

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:33, Reply)
As charming and helpful as this advice is,
I'm not doing it to "get hole". I'm already "getting hole". I'm doing it because it's a nice thing to do and you don't bitch and whine if somebody wants to spend their time with you, just because it's not one of your favourite things.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:41, Reply)
Yeah you're totally doing this in the hope of getting some.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:45, Reply)
Sounds pretty gay to me.

(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:47, Reply)
Why is the other person in this relationship making you sit through several hours of something you hate?
That doesn't sound altogether healthy and balanced to me. No wonder you're not getting any hole.
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:49, Reply)
How was the step?

Perhaps the best advice I have ever read on the internet

What about
The Harder They Come?
(, Mon 11 Mar 2013, 11:39, Reply)
Tell me about it, I'm having to go to a musical to get her to do that.
