So anyway George Osbourn says people who are against the Benifit changes happening
Are on the wrong side of public opinion.

So what do you think about the benefit changes.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:39, 97 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
i'm convinced that the poor deserve it

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:40, Reply)
slightly worried about how deliberately divisive this government is mind

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:41, Reply)
thing with poor people is, who honestly gives a shit what they think

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:46, Reply)
yeh well exactly

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:55, Reply)
Not harsh enough.
People like purpledoris are spongers who should get a job.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:40, Reply)
and if there's one thing we know for certain it's that there are shitloads of jobs going

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:41, Reply)
A lot more than there were 12 months ago.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:42, Reply)
there's like two jobs each really

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:42, Reply)
The thing about public opinion, is that it is usually badly misinformed.
This government have pulled off the great PR stunt of convincing a lot of people that all public sector workers have the holidays of a teacher, the pay and conditions of a senior civil servant and the lifestyle of the Mighty Badger.
Now let's cut the pay of those greedy dinner ladies.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:42, Reply)
i work for a mental health charity and to be honest, this government are giving us a massive increase in business
so i guess that's a good thing?
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:43, Reply)
Not really.
You need to deal with this increase in demand with a smaller budget.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:48, Reply)
we are mostly funded by donations but i guess with people having less spare cash
those donations will decrease
as we face more and more genuinely distressed people worrying that they will become homeless because, while they can't work and need help getting better and help getting back functioning in society, any sort of safety net is pulled out from beneath them and they fall further from society, all while we tell them they are scroungers and it's all their fault
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:51, Reply)
LOL

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:52, Reply)
so you can see why the argument for these reforms seems to me to be particularly unpleasant

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:53, Reply)
i've worded that sentence all wrong and thing

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:54, Reply)
to be fair, they shouldn't have gotten ill without being rich to start with
the dicks
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:52, Reply)
Maybe if they were good at something that someone would pay for they wouldn't be so unpalitable to the goverment.
Why shouldn't we reward hard workers who have done things like inherited lots of money?
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:49, Reply)
when was teh last time you saw a dinner lady who wasn't fat

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:43, Reply)
i think the last time that being overweight indicated wealth was some time around henry the eighths'ss' time

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:44, Reply)
actually it was probably during rationing

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:44, Reply)
i know this hasn't got much to do with anything
but i kind of want to know when it was now
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:45, Reply)
Ha ha

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:44, Reply)
There's quite a difference between fat because you eat shit, cheap food
and the likes of Stunned and Battered who are fat on eating foie gras swilled down with a couple of £53 bottles of wine.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:46, Reply)
I love foie gras

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:48, Reply)
ITS GEORGE OSBOURNES FAULT THAT DINNER LADIES DON'T EAT CHEAPER FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETALES AND EXERCISE IN THE NUMBER OF GLORIOUS LOCAL PARKS THROUGHOUT THIS SCEPTERED ISLE

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:53, Reply)
There's quite a difference between what I said and what you just said.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:55, Reply)
well yeah you described dinner ladies as greedy and I agreed, then you tried blaming the condems for thick working class yokels preferring to eat congealed fat from a fryer as opposed to the cheaper healthier alternative

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:59, Reply)
They could just eat less.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:00, Reply)
Pretty sure quite a few people have already started doing this as a result of their reduced income.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:02, Reply)
Thus saving the NHS money.
Alls well that ends well.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:03, Reply)
Assuming that your interpretation of my words is correct, how would cutting the income of these people help?

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:02, Reply)
that one trillion pound debt isn't going to cut itself you know

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:03, Reply)
Ah yes, the deficit reduction plan.
Remind me how that is going.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:06, Reply)
NOT VERY WELL
these autere times aren't very austere. Proper cuts are needed here. If it's not hurting, it's not working.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:07, Reply)
what we're doing isnt working so let's do it harder!

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:47, Reply)
And also these "studies" are retarded.
Do you think "work should pay" yes/no would get a very different answer than.
Do you think the poorest in society should have their incomes reduced in real terms? Yes/No
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:45, Reply)
i dunno why the minimum wage hasnt been increased if they want work to pay so badly

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:46, Reply)
Also, I see a massive incongruity between being the party that is tough on crime and cutting the income of the very poorest in society at the same time as cutting public services, such as the police.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:47, Reply)
at least it should make it appear like it's all the poor's fault
as they end up having to become criminals just to survive, we can all go, harr look at them they are all criminals they don't deserve our money
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:49, Reply)
Yeah, like this

Desperate times call for desperate mesaures
That's why unlicensed pregancy will be illegal, and anyone earning less than £40k a year (and their dependants) will be sent to work in the salt mines.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:53, Reply)
We'll need all the salt for the roads BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING SNOW!

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:53, Reply)
Anyone who claims that they "can't" work in the mines
can shovel all the fucking snow away. Get 'em grafting.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:55, Reply)
When I start my landfill mining company. I'll get all the unemployed to sort paper and plastics for me.
Minimum wage obviously.

The tories are just doing what they have to do, they did inherit the problems after all
Just like I'm sure Roberto Mancini is going to blame Mark Hughes for Man City not winning the Premiership this year.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:57, Reply)
nail on the head, mate
except that running the uk economy has nothing whatsoever in commonality with premiership results
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:01, Reply)
One's run for the benefit of Rupert Murdoch and a tiny minority of the very rich and the other's the top flight of football in the UK?
BITING SATIRE HERE

you should write for the daily mash

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:04, Reply)
YES THIS IS EXACTLy RIGHT

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:05, Reply)
I thought I had a 'DNOUP ENO' coin earlier
I am surely 'the tits' when it comes to the economy
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:43, Reply)
i mean, they didn't exactly inherit it in the usual way because of course it was a global problem,
rather than specifically labour's fault, and according to plenty of you know, nobel winning economists etc, the way they are trying to get out of it is completely the wrong way to do it and will make things worse. which of course, we hope is not the case.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:02, Reply)
fortunately for me i'm not an economist so i can just
say, i reckon what they are doing is alright, or isnt alright, depending on my mood
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:03, Reply)
I like the way we've retained our prized AAA rating.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:04, Reply)
yeh they must be doing something right

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:05, Reply)
Economists all make it up anyway
they assume things like demand are perfect, then base everything on that and act surprised when something different happens.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:12, Reply)
someone needs to freeze their pay right

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:17, Reply)
oh crap just seen they are considering lowering or freezing minimum wage

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:05, Reply)
No top down reorganisation of the NHS!

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:02, Reply)
I think George Osbourne is on the wrong side of competence

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 11:59, Reply)
It's the "the daily mail says it, lots of people read the daily mail so they must all think it"
logic which is so flawed.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:02, Reply)
What I find most distressing is that I'm so unsurprised and apathetic about this.
my response is somewhere between "what did you expect?" and "what are you gonna do?" torries being torries, shocker. So we can look forward to glorious and incisive policies form that nice mr milliband in a year or two.

/oldsocialistwinging
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:05, Reply)
oh christ can you imagine milliband in bloody power christ
i mean jesus really, i think they need to change their leadership really they do, although not ed balls either cos christ can you imagine
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:06, Reply)

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:08, Reply)

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:09, Reply)

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:14, Reply)
It's a shame the Monster party disappeared.
I don't even know who to lodge a protest vote with, anymore.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:09, Reply)
Terry Wogan @ points of view

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:13, Reply)
I tend to vote for the party closest to my actual views, for a laugh, like.
in the past this has been, the socialists, the Liberals (not libdems, proper old fashioned liberals) and People Before Proffit.

net result: we had 2 Socialist councelors now we have none, it remains a safe labout seat.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:16, Reply)
I honestly don't know who that'd be for me.
I'll support my legs and my legs'll support me.
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:50, Reply)
Nigel Farrage is what the british people want 'cus its what the british people need. The hard working decent honest agmonst us have nothing to worry about with Nigel on board.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:46, Reply)

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:47, Reply)

Oh dear god is www.cuddles4camron.co.uk available?

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:53, Reply)
oh god oh god oh god.
I can do something with webcams and people hugging their monitors. and when the camera gets all dark ('cus they're "hugging camron" and covering the webcam), I can get a voice-over impressionist to say words like "Hmmm, I wonder if I can get the change out of their pocket" or "This is nothing like Eton".
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:55, Reply)
oh man, or I can do a webcam thing where people can post videos accepting an imaginary appology from him.

(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:56, Reply)
How heart warming would this meme be....
Get loads of people, like grannies and kids and stuff to say "I forgive you, camron" and then to hug the webcam, and then for them to say "Doesn't that feel better?"
(, Tue 2 Apr 2013, 12:58, Reply)
i'll be honest here gonz, i'm not really sure what you're on about
