I saw a guy push a girl over rushing to get on a train at Oxford station about a month ago,
I think the girl broke her nose when she tripped over some ones bag trying to stay upright and head butted the ticket checker thing.
I would have helped, but I was in the little m&s food buying 4 cans of "Belgian lager" because it was the nearest shop to my house still open and I was really stoned and well, she looked like a bit of a Trollope anyway so fuck her.

My friend was working on the door that night, and he said it was orders of the band. But then he could've been lied to so the venue could save face. Very odd expreience though.

I pulled out and drove straight into the other guy's car.

the pizzagate thing was probably the only time anyone's ever been that nasty to/about me behind my back in the last few years
prior to that it was the bedshitter twisting my arm up my back/splitting my lip open etc

i see it in my job all the time, when people split up and then realise they hadn't worked out who was going to get what in terms of property assets. never ever underestimate how bitter and nasty people can get, in my opinion.
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 10:53, Reply)
See, when we bought the house we signed up agreements (not sure technical term)
That everything was 50/50, we opened a joint account for all bills and mortgage etc and signed that as 50/50 and then got wills and said my brother and her brother would get half each if we both bit the big one and the guy who did it all said that was fairly common and sensible. I mean, I know love is supposed to be forever, but any adult should be able to go in to that sort of long term commitment, especially financial commitment knowing that the world isn't perfect ans have an idea of what's going to happen if the shit goes bonkers no?
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 10:59, Reply)
this is v sensible

(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:02, Reply)
It is, but also, it seems so fucking obvious

(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:04, Reply)
you'd be amazed
i had one guy who let his gf move in. he had £300k of equity. so far, so good. where he was STUPID was to let her start paying towards the mortgage and other things like a new bathroom, without recording the terms. of course, they split up, and... she went for half the entire lot.
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:08, Reply)
Yeah, that is stupid, but also, difficult to bring up I imagine, I guess it was easier for us as we both had around the same capital to put up and were both starting with nothing,
Out of curiosity, how did it end? Did she get half?
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:10, Reply)
i can't say as it's ongoing, but what i will say is that it comes down to evidence
so she argues that the intention was for her to get half and this was proven by her being allowed to pay half the mortgage, joint bank account etc.

he argues that her contribution was in lieu of rent/a gift.

i suspect the court will stick a finger in the air and give her back what she put in, minus a bit for living costs, plus a pro-rata'd bit for how much the house has gone up in value, but it's entirely possible she'll get half. he was an idiot not to seek legal advice.
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:14, Reply)
Being a decent human being
if I move in with a homeowner, I shall be signing a tenancy.
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:16, Reply)
"every case turns on its own facts"
eg someone who gives up their career to raise kids, then 10 years later things go pear-shaped, during which they'd had no opportunity to make their own money/property investments is entitled to it. this girl moved in, 12 months later, thinks she's entitled to it, for no good reason.

greggs hat had a beautician whom i loathed the sound of - she'd married some much older banker, it lasted 6 months, and she was going for their surrey mansion. why? why did she think she was entitled to it??
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:24, Reply)
That would have been her plan all along.
Any rich man that thinks a much younger woman is interested in him for anything other than his money is a fucking retard.
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:27, Reply)

(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 12:03, Reply)

I'm trying to wangle my way into starting paying into the mortgage myself. If I solidify my position as trophy-husband I won't have to work a single day and I'll still get half the house :D
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:14, Reply)
yep
i'd never let a fellow property lawyer move in, let's put it that way!
(, Mon 12 Aug 2013, 11:24, Reply)
Before we got married
we went and sorted out wills and shit, and because mr b3th has kids and wants to make sure they're looked after, I offered to sign a pre nup if he wanted. The solicitor we spoke to said they were almost unenforcable in this country and it would be a waste of everybody's time.

Oh, I just remembered.
When I popped to the shops for munchies last night there was a woman being all shouty at the girl behind the counter for being on the phone while there were people waiting to be served.

Now while I'd normally agree that the girl was being rude and unprofessional I came down far more on her side than the shouty woman, partly because I felt the shouty woman was unnecessarily rude and un-English for kicking up a fuss rather than tutting quietly and going about her business and partly because it's 'my' little shop and they are nice friendly people who are open all the time but charge reasonable prices (cheaper than Sainsburys) unlike the SPA 25M down the road.

so, yeah, that.
