What's your favourite or most interesting material possession?
What one *realistic* thing would you like to own?
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:32, 204 replies, latest was 11 years ago)
My guitar is my favourite thing I own
Realistically, I'd like to own an Aston Martin
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:35, Reply)
Do you think you ever will?

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:36, Reply)
Maybe
I'll see about it once mortgage is paid off and kids are grown up
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:37, Reply)
They are difficult because they hold such stupid values
because of the percieved "cool"

For instance, the "cheapest" DB7 on Pistonheads right now is nearly 18K. That's a fuck of a lot of money for a nearly-20 year old Jag XK8 that's been trimmed using a better class of cow.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:40, Reply)
What she said^
The Jag is normally a better (more reliable) car too. But just not James Bond cool
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:40, Reply)
Unless you actually look like James Bond
driving around in an Aston doesn't make you James Bond cool, though.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:43, Reply)
Especially if, like sporters, you are an ageing fat geordie
to be fair the boss had one and I did have a go in it cor it was lovely
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:45, Reply)
My ex-wife's boss had a couple of Ferrari 360s - a Modena and a spider
which he bought in a fit of pique after an argument with his wife. Had a go in the spider. Actually not that impressed. I mean, amazing theoretically but actually a cunt to drive around town

My old colleague's Cerbera 4.7 RR though ... Ooooohh my. Gert lush fun.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:49, Reply)
I had a play in a Cerbera (its my favourite of the TVR's as well)
A proper grip the seat drive as it was a touch damp (inside as well afterwards)
After we parked up, it didn't start again
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:55, Reply)
Standard.

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 15:30, Reply)
I just have always liked them
From the DB5 of Goldfinger up
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:54, Reply)
spare 150K for a DB5?

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:54, Reply)
If you have it, yes please

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 15:11, Reply)
My wife LOLLERS.
I'd quite like a TVR Tuscan but I'm not sure I can be arsed with it never working.

Damn it I was going to say Your Wife too

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:41, Reply)
You don't own her though
you merely rent her.

I had a Chimera (4.0L high compression).
It never went wrong on me.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:56, Reply)
A couple of years ago I had to go to CERN for a business meeting.
In the gift shop, They had some tiny particles of Dark Matter. It was over a thousand Swiss Francs, but I shelled out for it. It is my most interesting possession. If I get a chance to go back, I hope to get some Dark Energy to go with it.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:37, Reply)
Sweet, I bought a quantum tunnel for the garden.

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:40, Reply)
What's that in real money?

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:43, Reply)

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:41, Reply)
I like it at the flicks 'Prometheus' was amazing.
Not fussed about the living room. Gonna go for a higher HD though.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:43, Reply)
I though it was better on a telly than at the cinema

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:45, Reply)
It's a gimmick imo.
Also, as an eyemong my choices are blurry or uncomfortable.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:44, Reply)
I want 3D cricket though

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:46, Reply)
Dear Froggulas
Please try going outside, you will find reality in 3D. You could even support your local cricket team in the real fresh air.

(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:45, Reply)
Yeah, it was on the list, it's so much car for the money
I was thinking either a CL 600 or 55 AMG so not entirely V12 - but I think Imma gonna go M3 in the spring instead.
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:46, Reply)
The CL 600 is the one
for under 10k you can get one with all the fat man gadgets in it
(, Fri 17 Jan 2014, 14:48, Reply)
Agreed, but same sor of money with the CL55 AMG
better handling and marignally faster, but then you don't get enough torque to move contintents, and since it's a GT car handling really isn't all that anyway. Swings and roundabouts

Or you could spend half that on a CL500 and get 95% of the car, too.
