Eight Days Till Home Time
Good morning, and a very happy penultimate-day-of-the-working-week to you all!
Was thinking last night, what's my greatest wish? Getting through the day seems to work for me - nothing more, nothing less.
Ahem. Composure, Ed, composure.

I like Patrick McCabe. Have you read Winterwood.
Very disturbing.
I've had a lie in as going to the docs before work so I had plenty of kip too:)
*edit* although my spell-checking still needs some work.

Has involved waking up half an hour before my alarm went off, and eating some breakfast. Off into town soon to pick up my scart to vga cable from the post office, then got many other things to do.
It's my weekend!

my telly isnt clever enough to accept one of these so I bought 500G hard drive multimedia player. Cool toy.

no, I actually thought she was going to go down the science route but she has decided in her infinate wisdom that she will make more money in the long run doing Business Management.
Its hard to imagine her in the course though. When I was there it was full of Blonde bimbo types who got up at 5 to do hair and makeup and wore mini skirts and flip flops mid winter.
Science was a haven for me in my baggy jeans and hoodies (or if i was really late my pj's)

One of the advantages of doing a science degree is that we CAN look down our noses at those who do things like "business management" or *shudders* media studies!

It's A-Level results day, so congrats to BGB's sis, and to wk's sis, and good luck to anyone who's about to pick up their results.

Orlright?
My greatest wish, ed, is that sooner or later I'll be able to buy a house. I finally get a wage where I can afford it, and the credit crunch hits. And so now my graduate account is expiring, I won't qualify for a graduate mortgage.
Balls. I fucking hate renting.
That's quite a sad wish really, isn't it?
EDIT: Ning, acrenne! I have a BA in Theatre, arts degrees FTW!

When I first started swimming again I would manage 1 or 2 lengths of the pool before I had to stop and have a breather and then after a time I was swimming for 40 minutes non-stop.

Morning Folks (again)
Still feeling a bit grumpy, maybe I'll head to the range and miss some clays for a while to make myself feel better - nothing like firing off a couple of hundred rounds to make you feel on top of the world, albeit with a bruised shoulder.
Actually hitting some of them would be a pleasant bonus as well, mind you.
However, I think I'll wait for a bit to see if last night's insane maragarita/chilli combo is planning any revenge in the trouser department first.

Also, @Baz, I agree. For example, I blady love Jurassic 5. Proper hip-hop.
And I want to scream whenever I hear someone talking about R&B. It's not rhythm and blues, you fucks!

I've just decided that today
Is a good day, over all.
Not good stuff:
Found out I won't be moving to London with my mate.
Work is rubbish.
Good stuff:
Found out my brother got 3 A's and a B for his A/S levels.
My Blood story will make the Best Of.
Just over a week 'til the big b3ta bash.
*other as-yet-secret good news*

I could move like a frienzied gazelle to the funky beat.
Now I just listen to dance music when I'm exercising.

My friend's housemates wanted to "keep the house balanced" so there shall be a female picked instead.
I can kinda see their point, so it's fine *smiles*
But I'm too scared to move to London on my own, haha!

Re Science degreees:
I found that my BSc Computer Science degree was too academic for the real word, but I remedied that by learning stuff on my own afterwards.
Re QOTW: I also found slightly icky (but not too icky), but here's a nice story, and here's a story that's just downright strange. God I feel like such a dirty little whore for doing that!
@bazmorningstar: While I don't own a copy of DeLaSoul's 'Three Feet High and Rising', De La Soul from that era are still one of my fave rap groups.
Also, I avoid job interviews where I'm expected to cut my hair and wear a suit. To date, have never worn a suit at a job interview.

in the bad old days of the 1980's, there were a number of 'Crews' in dirty aul Dublin town who used to meet up down alleyways, break open finagled cardboard boxes, spread them about and have 'Beatdowns' where one 'Crew' would compete against the other to the soundtrack you described above played through whatever means of playing music was available. Sometimes, a skinny white kid would even 'beatbox'. I was barely a child watching them and could never decipher how they decided who won but at the time, it seemed impossibly cool. It was possibly, crap, of course and nothing like the kind of shenanigans you see nowadays.
I was in St Michelle in Paris earlier this year and saw the most acrobatic feats of breakdancing being performed by baggy-panted Africans to the accompaniment of an enormous 'Ghetto Blaster' reminiscent of 'Radio Raheem' (see Spike Lee's 'Do The Right Thing'.
It was way cooler.

Firstly, I'm hungry. There's not a crumb of cake in the place.
Secondly, I'm waiting for the QOTW to kick off. And I'm worried that it's going to be a chthonic chosen one.
Bah.

He loves all that fighting and wrestling stuff. Me and his mum were always play fighting with him. We taught him Sumo wrestling when he was 4.
His dad is a boring old fart and didn't do anything like that.

My weapon of choice today
will be glue.
I'm bored, but who cares, cos I'm about to leave work and go to the pub and drink with two people who have flowing locks and a desire to chat and laugh.
Life's nice.

you'd get one good run out of that then you'd run out of fuel and then be beholden to the lad with the fuel tank.
Bagsies the fuel tank!

was playing risk the other day
someone was planning to take Asia
we were stoned and drunk and I said "you've fallen victim to one of the classic blunders. most well known is never enter a land war in asia, but only slightly less so is never go up against a sicilian when death is on the line!. hahahahahahahah. "
then I fell over
I may have enhanced my reputation for eccentricity

Are just you feeling particularly tetchy today, or is it general (justifiable?) antipathy towards Star Wars obsessives?
BTW - you have your new target - "Phe"

No I'm not tetchy
I've just heard so many people say this in the past. Especially when the new films were coming out. If all the people who say that their mums threw out their Star Wars toys were telling the truth then the landfills would be full of them.
*edit* @Vipros. Exactly. You didn't keep them mint on the fucking card did you.
And I resent being called dogface by some twunt whose profile is full of pictures of his RC helicopter.

Honestly...
I have a feeling that every other answer is going to be something to do with Star Wars.
I only ever had a few Star Wars figures, and I gave them to my little cousin when I'd grown out of them. That said, I'm not too fussed on Star Wars anyways.
EDIT: I'm sure you don't look like a Dog, liveinabin. Your ears are too small, for one thing! ;)

no need for instant hostility like that!
call him a donkey-raping shit-eater :-)
he has given a sort of good reason for having them on the card now, but even so, people who keep things in the box because they might be worth something one day aren't living in the present enough.

I think we should have a "Star Wars Wall of Shame"
Or possible "Star Walls of Shame"?
Everyone who admists to having regrets that their Star Wars toys were thrown out (when they were over 18), or who admit to never taking them out of the packet (when they were under 18) should taken out the back and ritually humiliated...

But the fact is
that the star wars toys were one of the first cases of film tie in merchandise. At this time this kind of stuff was not collectable so no one kept them in the packet in the hope that they might be because they had no reason to think that anyone would ever pay over the odds for cheap plastic toys.
