Speaking as a right-thinking vegetarian, I can only agree with you.
It pisses me off that the vegetarian option, particularly in 'gastro-pubs' is always some fucking goat's cheese shite.

You will get fewer stations than you think its not like internet radio, however:
Radio 6 has pretty good music
radio 4 extra for comedy

But I would just tune to talk shite and then disable the radio so she has to listen to fuckwits all day long
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 13:13, Reply)
Wait is that an option?

(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 13:14, Reply)
Well she would be used to teh fuckwit bit living with you
Ahahahahaha...

I don't know about the radio you have but on the house ones I have you can set it up so once its tuned you cant change the selections so if you only did one station then it would only receive that... (You can change this but need to know how to unlock it)
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 13:18, Reply)

Most of my favourite music is classical
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:00, Reply)
Just the Classical period?
Or do you listen to composers such as Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Bernstein, Copland, etc.?
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:08, Reply)
All sorts
Even studied Weill, Stravinsky and Schoenberg at uni (minor music unit in non-music degree).
Like Stravinsky a lot, Schoenberg not at all, though could sort of see what he was trying to achieve.
Bernstein is a favourite, Wagner too, plus a load more.
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:13, Reply)
All of these composers incorporated jazz influences into some of their works.

(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:16, Reply)
Indeed, especially Bernstein

The different types of jazz, I think.
The one I hate is the one that sounds like several groups individual practice sessions played back simultaneously.
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:22, Reply)
Yeah, it's not for everyone.
Ornette Coleman's album Free Jazz has two quartets playing separate improvisations - one coming out of the left speaker, the other coming out of the right.
I rather like it, but I suspect you'd hate it.
(, Fri 28 Feb 2014, 14:25, Reply)
You may be right, but I'd always at least give it a listen first.
Sometimes music takes tine to grow on you, have listened to some very recent compositions that at first were "wtf" but after a while really liked.

DAB only exists because someone in govt saw they could cram more stations into less bandwidth and sell the rest for £££. It suffers from the same problem as Sky TV, spread the quality thinner and the result is crap. Have one at home, never use it. Internet radio is better all round.
Having said that may be of more value in a car, esp if you're into a particular genre of music that there's a local station for, plus sound quality ain't as much of an issue in a car.
