You missed half a dozen replies in an hour, and I thread I could no longer be bothered attending to. You bring it on yourselves.

You're a saint for making the effort with them

It has done nothing but confirm my previous thoughts that I shouldn't bother starting threads, they're ungrateful and lethargic and I can't stand to be around them one moment longer

It's not always possible.
You know I'm always there for you when you have a thread, but sometimes I have to do other things, like drive a car.
(, Thu 15 May 2014, 8:53, Reply)
More interested in driving cars and less so in 'driving' the forum forward eh? I see, I see. You need to adjust your priorities.

(, Thu 15 May 2014, 8:54, Reply)
I have little to no interest in driving cars, it is merely the least inconvenient way of getting to work and getting rid of my kids on the way.

(, Thu 15 May 2014, 8:58, Reply)
I take your point, I really do, but it doesn't detract from the deep sense of despair and lack of motivation I now feel today thanks to you.

Morning all
Today I have the delightful task of re-writing the blurb for each machine in a particular range ready for our new website. This afternoon I will be helping some colleagues set up for a Dental trade show.
Neither of these prospects fill me with unbounded joy. However, I will be dining massively and getting drunk on expenses tonight. Swings and roundabouts I suppose.

Morning.
I installed one of those alarm clocks on my phone last night that supposedly goes off at the 'right' part of your sleep cycle so you're not groggy.

I got a shit nights sleep but when I woke up I had little desire to go back to sleep; I was in work on time for the first time in ages.
(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:28, Reply)
How does it know how long you've been asleep?

(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:29, Reply)
You tell it you're going to bed.
Then you're supposed to leave the phone on your mattress and it uses it's accelerometers to determine what stage of sleep you're in.

It could well be bollocks. I'll see how it goes.

You can also set it up so it makes you do a bit of maths before turning the fucker off to prove you're awake so you don't just go straight back to bed.
(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:34, Reply)
Ah, I see, SOURCERY!

This one will also, if you tell it to, record noise you make in your sleep.
I will finally be able to prove to my housemate that I don't snore like a cunt when I've been in the pub all day.

(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:38, Reply)
I thought you were in Warwickshire?

(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:38, Reply)
Not quite, by about 200 yards
Will be soon though. Anyhow, Warwickshire is part of the Midlands (just not the West Midlands)
(, Thu 15 May 2014, 9:47, Reply)
The Midlands starts at Beaconsfield, as far as I'm concerned
its southern boundary is the M40 and M25. Beyond that, there be dragons. And slope-browed, knuckledragging neanderthals.

' the french have wonderful food, wine, country side, beaches, mountains, architecture, art etc etc'
Yes yes. But France is full of the French and no amount of food, architecture, mountains etc can negate that.

When Supermarine were designing the spitfire it was originally built with round head rivets rather then flush ones, as these were cheaper
However the additional drag caused by the rivets knocked a couple of mph off the planes top speed and that could mean the difference between life and death.
As previously mentioned flush rivets were too expensive to use across the entire aircraft so to understand where they had to use the flush rivets and where they could get away with using the round head rivets they made a plane with entirely flush head rivets and then glued split peas to every one.

over the course of many test they added and removed split peas to simulate the round headed rivets, until they came across the optimal combination that had a negligible effect on top speed but wasn't too expense to build.

tl:dr -wee wee tapirs
