It's Monday, the weekend has been and gone again.
Pull up a chair and tell me all about yours.
I'll go put the kettle on.

Morning, lustful one
I awoke with a sore head this morning, so I'm not in the best of fettle. How about you?
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:23, Reply)
I'm good.
I saw my Irish man on Friday and didn't flash him, so all is well.

The crazy temp is due in at 10 so hopefully I'll be entertained for the rest of the day.

Sorry you're not feeling too good :(
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:25, Reply)
Glad you had a good night with the bloke
I'll bet he was slightly disappointed by your lack of exposed boobage this time though!

Once my drugs kick in (just antihistamine and decongestant, nothing class A!) my head will be fine. Just in time for my boss to come in and screw it up again.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:31, Reply)
It was good.
He was very chivalrous which isn't what I'm used to so it made a lovely change.

Ahhh those pesky bosses making your head all hurty. Lets just have a mass walk out from work today and have an adventure day!
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:35, Reply)
An adventure day
sounds just the business. I was just thinking when I was in the shower this morning that I've only been back at work a week, yet it seems like ages. Whereas I had two and a half weeks away on holiday and it flew by.

WTF is that all about? Why can't it be the other way round? :(
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:40, Reply)
Morning all
Sat: Visit from the outlaws. Visited friends. Booze.
Sun: Packed for the Lakes. Went out for lunch. Booze.

Today ...... Remarkably chipper and loving the idea of looking out over Helvellyn in about 5 hours.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 8:41, Reply)
I hate how fast holidays go!
Sometimes I feel like I spend my whole week waiting for the weekend and/or Holidays. I'm off to Amsterdam in 3 weeks and I can't wait. I know my time there will fly though! All this waiting for fun makes me feel like I'm wishing my life away!

"I'm so happy, there is no more dust in our downstairs. And over the next week we get to have fun varnishing in the evenings."
So funny, but I did.

It was a good date.
He's a very funny man and I loved the banter. I'm sure i'll see him again but in all honesty I kind of sort of ummm have my eye on someone else. So I think I'll just keep this a very casual getting to know each other thing before I rush in and ruin everything.

I am having a good Monday Kaol, but that's mostly because I am off work. And I now only have 3 days to work, and after Thursday get to spend lots of time relaxing!

All that bad I guess, I just have a series of issues with Mondays:

I don't like getting up.
My job doesn't generate work for me over the weekend, so it's normally Tuesday before I have anything to do.
I'm fed up with my job, in general.
Also, I have a pulsating headache.

I guess I just like moaning. *shrugs*

I am glad it's Monday had a shit weekend. Look like I have been in a fight with Freddie Krueger the amount of cuts and scratches down my arms (from dismantling a car, don't worry I'm not going all emo "you don't understaaaaaand")

Glad some others have had good weekends though *winks at wanderlust*

I spent it in Southampton with a certain wonderful lady.

So come on people! Happiness is the way forward, DiT has the right idea!

Nope, I read Good Omens a while back, then recently read Neverwhere and Smoke And Mirrors (which I'd very strongly recommend, t'is a fantastic collection of odd short stories, might be good inspiration for you).
Finished Smoke and Mirrors on Saturday night, couldn't sleep, so last night when I couldn't sleep again I started American Gods.

Anyway, morning all :)

Funnily enough
I used to dislike sweetcorn when I was younger (about Kaol's age, probably). BUt now I love the stuff. Especially if it's munched straight off a freshly boiled cob.

Gets your teeth full of bits, right enough. But it's good.

Sweetcorn is a useless foodstuff, the human digestive system can't process it, so it just sits in skips at sewage farms awaiting transport to the local cattle...
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 10:44, Reply)
@Ethelred
With respect - bollocks!

The human digestive system can process it fine. It's full of sugar and stuff. It's only the fibrous component that goes right through, and that's good for you as it keeps your gut healthy.

My cunt of a manager just came in
And asked what I was doing.
I told him a few bits and pieces, and he started ranting on about how he'd been here working his arse off all weekend, with his wife and children.

So... I could go and work in the factory...

*makes tea*

*sits back*

What he neglected to mention was that his kids are 5, 3 and 1, so I doubt they're much help at making wardrobes.
The fact that he made a gigantic fuck-up with the order because he buggered off on holiday also was not mentioned...

Sweetcorn
Right...
K2k6 - You're right.
'Red - You're half right.

Humans can digest sweetcorn (although it's disgusting, and I don't know why you'd want to).

Humans can't digest the outer part of the sweetcorn "skin".
This skin is high in coloured compounds, yellow pigments that give it the classic "Horrible Yellow".

You eat the corn, chew it, pass it through your body, digesting the inside of it, the skin will stay mostly intact.

You shit out the normal brown log, and those yellow skins have to go somewhere...
They're studded through the turd like mixed peel in a Christmas pudding *shudders*

So down it all goes to the sewage plant and the fun begins...

Do you find taking vitamins
Has any health benefits that you can noticeably see/feel? Just curious to these things. Especially multivitamins which are a load of crap as the body cannot absorb certain things together - but on the flip side have had people who were always really sick start taking Echinacea and not being sick. Which is a question of was it helping or was the placebo effect in full force.

I started taking them as I was lacking in iron, no matter what I ate, and the doctor said the multi-vits + iron might help.

Now instead of bleached white, I am a healthy creamish colour, and feel a lot less lethargic compared to pre-vits.

Its the only thing I take, so I blame my chirpiness on them.

I've read a lot of research on mind over matter, and a really interesting book ages ago about walking on hot coals and all that. Spinich...
I assume some of you will know this, some of you won't...

"... the iron content [of spinich was] mistakenly reported ten times the actual value, a value that was rechecked during the 1930s, where it was revealed that the original German scientist had misplaced a decimal point in his calculations. In truth, spinach actually has about the same iron content as a lot of other vegetables, and even less than others. Cooked broccoli and cauliflower, for example, have almost double the iron content of spinach."

I have decided that lunch shall temporarily fill my day, followed by going into town again, and then going to Tesco. It shall be many of the funs.

1) I can fit an entire packet (25g) of Hula Hoops in my mouth if I crunch them up. This is quite nice.

2) Accounting for whole hoops, I achieved a maximum load of 21 hula hoops, mouth open.

3) To close the mouth, hula hoop load must be reduced to 17.

proper beards for the win
mine is downy soft :-)

ask kaol, he's grabbed it.

and you get to refer to yourself as a beard-wearing gentleman.

I have to frequently explain to beard-sceptics that while growing a beard you go through the 3 stages of itchiness.

most people give up at the first stage, this is because they aren't real men.

some give up at the second stage and this is because they have no willpower.

few will give up at the third stage. there are a myriad of reasons for this.

Re facial hair:
Every so often, I grow a goatee. Sometimes, it looks good but requires more maintenance than the rest of my hair. I then usually get fed up of it, shave it off, and realise I look so much younger without one.

Edit: hairy chest too. don't mind that too much. was weird though. I used to be really blonde and not able to grow a beard, no hairy chest etc. then when I was about 19 (I think) my hair changed colour to a mdeium brown, my chest hair grew and I started having to shave more often

(this was not late puberty)

Black hair? I agree.

My beloved has a delightfully furry chest, a nice shade of mid brown. It's like cuddling a very large, very warm, teddy bear.

On the subject of late/early puberty: There used to be a rumour circulating around my school that I hit puberty at around 4.

One day being average/tall and the next being short/average is not much fun.
(, Mon 1 Sep 2008, 15:51, Reply)
Oh well.
I'm not exceptionally hairy anyway. My armpits aren't that hairy either, which I'm not bothered about.

That's a damned fine beard there, Vipros. Damned fine!

ah, the sideburns
they've been with me since I was about 16 I think

I feel a bit silly about it occasionally, but I really am proud of my beard

@TGB: I've been likened to a werewolf and a bear (repeatedly a bear) over the years, does this mean that things aren't going to work out between us?

When I was about 8
I was looking forward to growing facial hair, so I could sculpt it in weird and wonderful shapes (eg. spiral sideburns). This urge didn't last until puberty, but I've been known to be 'creative' when shaving off my many goatees. What I did was to basically divide it into mini-beards by shaving channels of clear skin through my chin-forest.

Me pulling a silly face displaying my beard at the weekend. The next day I trimmed it down to Stubbeard length because it was irritating my upper lip. For some reason it didn't occur to me to trim just that part.

Not anywhere near as cool as Vipros' though.

I'm jealous. I might have to start growing my facial hairstuffs in a cooler way.

Subject changage: I've wanted to look into my family tree for quite a while and hope to find Scottish roots (I'm an Anderson you see) because I like the idea of having a legitimate reason for wearing a kilt and the associated swooning that would ensue!

I suppose it's only a bit of a subject change as Scottish people are renowned for having beards.

Family trees

I've digitised their findings into both an image and a spreadsheet style document.

best thing about a good long beard?
you have to shave much less because no one notices the difference on the non-bearded parts

ok, enough beard talk, even for me!

I need to speak to my grandfather about our family tree, he's done a hell of a lot of research into it (good resources, he was a county librarian)

would be interested in my mum's side too though, but there isn't really anyone left to talk to about it...
