Losing weight and stopping smoking. In other words life is shite.
The question is; are there any low calorie foods that don't taste vile? I have a Weight Watcher chicken hotpot that looks about the size of something I could sneeze into a hanky but less appetising.

Just eat healthy and don't eat between meals.
Worked for me.

without buying any of their crap.
the secret is mostly cutting down on booze, preparing all meals yourself from low fat ingredients, and eating a bit less.
I've been eating the same stuff that she has and I haven't felt in the least bit deprived of anything.

If you must eat ready meals (i.e. you can't cook), the M&S healthy range tastes good and is generally low fat/calorie.
Best thing though, exercise more, eat less, cook from scratch with fresh ingredients.
Often people mistake hunger for thirst, instead of a snack, have a glass of water and wait 10 mins, if you still need to snack, have an apple.
Try not to think of "being on a diet", try to think of eating better and exercising more as a lifestyle change. It's not instant, but keep with it and the weight will come off.
[edit] Oh yeah, portion size is key, don't feel you have to finish everything on your plate (use smaller plates if you need to), try to stop eating when you're not hungry anymore, *not* when you're full to bursting.

I started out walking. Then added some swimming. Now I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and I can run.
Run like the wind.
This is over a couple of years and not since Christmas btw.

My tip for a tasty low-cal lunch: grate a big carrot, add diced beetroot, cucumber, tomatoes etc. a dash of vinegrette and a dash of hot chilli sauce (tobasco/encona etc).
You might look like a mong eating it, but WTF?

Rabbit, pheasant, venison, etc are all high protein/low fat meats.

is one of the best diets as it fills you up without you overeating and you stay full for a long time, plus it's simple. Things like brown rice, wholewheat pasta, etc, are low GI, meaning they break down slowly. Things with sugar and crap in them are high GI, so they break down quicker, making you hungry quicker. From what I've heard from other women, weightwatchers is notorious for being effective enough to keep you buying into their shite, but not effective enough to actually work long term. The only way to get slim and stay slim is to eat well and exercise. It can be fun though, I took up pole dancing with my friends and that's worked wonders, you could try martial arts or something. If it's fun it doesn't feel like exercise.

Weightwatchers is like that if you buy and eat all their shit instead of following the plan. it's actually a pretty simple and good way of keeping track of what you are eating.
like I said, it worked really well for my gf. but it also might have been having the contraceptive implant removed....
exercise-wise: go surfing. can't beat it for a full body workout with added coolness

if you mix a teaspoon of Cider Vinegar into a glass of water and drink it every morning after your breakfast, it helps you to lose weight, seriously.
I have absolutely no idea why it does. Perhaps the acid in it slowly corrodes away your insides... but it works.
I've told lots of people to use it because it does such a good job.
So maybe you can do that, then you'll be able to eat more normal tastey stuff :)
Edit: health benefits, to make my case more sensible...

I am thinner than most of my friends and eat in a manner they would consider unhealthy. Just restrict your meals to a sensible size and don't eat between them. Save the sweets for weekends and special occasions.

But that will be my chocolate for the week.
Moderation is the key, don't make yourself miserable as you'll succumb to yummy fatty goodness.
Also make sure taht you set realistic goals so that you can actaully meet them.
I had to use an extra hole on my belt this week, and I eat drink and are generally merry, but in moderation*
*moderation may be a lie at the weekends

and not through dying either.
feel peckish? have a cigarette. the hungry feeling will then recede.

the meals of theirs I bought were all used at the office for convenience. Surprisingly, they have one ice cream (I think it was the fudgecicle) that is really really good.
Most people in my area swear by either WW or South Beach to slim down. Of course, being in Texas.....we are in the south....where all foods are fried...even the diet food is deep fried, so you are talking about a population where what is considered a normal average weight is something your country would consider a bit too rotund. We like 'em fluffy. I think even the pillsbury dough boy is considered a sex symbol.

...and I had only picked up the WW meal at Tesco 'cos I wanted something hot.
Must go, have to go run after a pheasant whilst puffing on a Marlboro and carrying beetroots.
Seriously though - have cut out midweek drinking and weed (to avoid munchies.), started running and weekly badminton, cut down on snacks and have lost 7lbs since the new year. 10 more to go and I am at my fighting weight.
