Morning kids
I'm being assessed a lot for different things today, so am taking the free time in between to come here and spread the poisonous joy that is working inside when it's sunny.

Photobucket

Have a thread fuckers.

hey
aside from being horribly sad about natasha richardsons death...
I'm also fucking ecstatic that I passed my maths test with 95%!!! I have not gotten anything above a 58% since this time last year. So I am fucking happy as fuck about that.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 8:21, Reply)
Nicely done on the test VC
I feel sorry for her family as in all the photos of them they looked so happy. Probably all for show, but it made a nice difference to the other celebrity mortality photos.

Morning everyone.
I'd like to stay longer but have to go and do some work. 'Tis annoying that even though I work in IT, my work prevents me from using computers.

Laters everyone.

thanks folks!
It was the best feeling. It was like finally all the work and effort I've put in have started paying off.

glad to hear you're all doing well. :D

Morning All!
My morning has started quite well, I've got a friend coming down for the day on saturday, before I have a gathering at mine on saturday night.

I've found a good way of running things. I will provide the house, the music, the consoles/DVD's, etc. And someone will be my the alcohol. It works out quite well!

How are we all today?

I'm currently doing
the Russian Revolution and next semester we study the Chinese Revolution.

I was sad cos I wanted to do the American and French revolutions, but hey - I have a brilliant teacher who makes the classes awesome so it's all good!
EDIT: thanks light. I work bloody hard though! :D

Stupid Woman is chatting to a guy with a baby due imminently and she said, "You must be on tenderhooks!"
Sadly it would be rude to interrupt their conversation by yelling, "It's tenterhooks, you daft bitch!"
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 9:27, Reply)
@VC
We only touched on the russian revolution, bit gutted really, sounded pretty damn interesting.

Not certain how it is down under, but here in Blighty, one of the options you get in A Levels (exams taken when 17-18) is an individual study where you can study any period/event/individual in history (as long as you haven't already done it). Was ace.

For mine, I did the Battle of Stalingrad. My question was something along the lines of "Was the Battle of Stalingrad a case of Russian Victory, or German Loss?".

3 months of study, and 8 hours of writing later, I had a damn good essay :D

Can't get cable in my flat :/
Be offers unlimited d/l, up to 24mbs (actually got approx 22 in my current house) and has a very good fair usage policy. Just a shame it's 17 quid a month, plus another tenner for BT *spits* line rental.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 10:25, Reply)
22mb, thats pretty quick

I pay for 8 and get 6 and I live in London, not far from the hub...I don't get it.

Is it true in japan you can get 100mb?

Lab - I'm on O2 broadband. They're basically a wrapper on top of Be, and I pay £17ish a month for a rock-solid unlimited 20mbps in Warwick.

The £17 price is for peeps with O2 mobiles, which I'm assuming includes you given what your mobile is.

Edit: I signed up through www.quidco.com and got £70 cashback too.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 10:51, Reply)
I did hear 02 were good.
I have cable though as it's a good deal with the TV. Dunno how fast it is but I tend to on average "acquire" tv downloads in more or less real time. Not that I fdo that kind of thing.

*throws oranges at Duckie*

When I lived in Hall Green

(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 10:57, Reply)
I used to have cable
It was blisteringly fast 75% of the time and didn't work the other 25%, I considered it an acceptable compromise! (I have unlimited 3G data on my mobile, so used that or stole my neighbours' connections when mine went down)

Lab, check out:

for more info. Be are reckoned to be pretty good I think.

Cheers Ducky
I'll look at O2. If it's £17 plus the tenner for BT line rental, then i think i'll stick with Be (works out the same).

Edit: I still need an active BT line. Fuck you, you monopolising shitbags! I don't want to make calls from a landline, i just want to get broadband!

TBG, I think it will be fun. Even if TLIC is a weirdo internet freak, you can tie him up with strawberry laces and play pin the tail on the mong.

EDIT: No offence TLIC! I'm only referring to you as a mong if you turn out to be a weirdo from the internet. Otherwise consider my mong retracted. Ooh err!

You should.

Edit: Not bad ta Vamps. I woke up sounding like Barry White today but don't have a sore throat or a cold at all strangely. I'm getting a lot of attention from the middle-aged ladies at work.

This week I am off work, but the Fella is here coz he's sold his business and is moving to Ireland and is just spending a couple of weeks here before he goes. So I am trying to fit a lot in. But I have been mostly drinking alcohol and not achieving much other than drunkenness.

"Yes. Going and fixing that printer could kick off a chain of events that could kill someone."

I am now afraid to leave my desk.

Afternoon all
So I need to do stuff on my big PC this afternoon, but it's de-fragging, and wonderful Vista does not tell me how much longer it has to go. How wonderful. I might actually have to do stuff by hand..

Are we all well this fine day?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 13:55, Reply)
Yes, I am well
If a little scared about doing anything.

tell your boss he ought to be ashamed of himself
that's a fairly dicklike thing to say.

EDIT: Podders! Hello!

Hi PoDster
I am well. But hot. And there's a minimum of an hour before I can get out of here.

Read your QOTW suggestion - brilliant!

Hi PoD
Just what is this work thing that you talk of?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:07, Reply)
Hey Dok, LiC, VC
I say work, it's mostly just design stuff today, no silly essays or anything. Or learning new programming languages, so it should be quite easy really, apart from the obvious computer-being-out-of-action thing. Boo.

Hey Light
Can't take all of the credit - it was inspired by PJM. I just added to the 'string' bit!

PoD
I'm rebuilding laptops, not even what my job is.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:15, Reply)
what do you do Dok?
always wondered...
EDIT: sleep time! night night!
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:19, Reply)
Sounds quite fun actually Dok
I need to do that with my old laptop in the summer when I get some free time, and some more/tidier space to do it in. I think I would lose lots of bits if I were to do it just now in here.

Vampy
I do Procurement for a university.

PoD, it can be fun, but with these it's turned out to be quite boring, still better than doing nothing I suppose.

I suspect
That the absence of ladies who like cock means us primitive males have no incentive to grunt and posture. And that's why it's so quiet today.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:37, Reply)
*grunts*
*postures*

There you go Chains, how's that?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:44, Reply)

PoD, long time no speak

Took you long enough Dok
*grins*
Howdy flesh, how're you doing?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 14:54, Reply)
Hi Flesh.
Chains I have no idea what you're talking about. ;)

I have to find a teacher to cover a class after my current one decided he wasn't going to continue

Still - end of my day - off home I go

Here's something to talk about
The other day I was leaving work and as I left the business park I was behind a minibus with a name blazoned across the back. Must be a Dutch company, I mused - it looked Dutch.
Experimentally, I tried saying it aloud in my attempt at a Dutch accent.

"Buster Werkenbak"

I felt like an idiot.

What brain-failure have you suffered lately?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 15:26, Reply)
Spooooooooooonman!
Or something like that.

I'm back, anyway.
EDIT:Oh...
You fuckers!

SPOONMAN
Come together with your plan, save me...

*der-ner-ner naw-naw*

+2 respect points for Kaoloceles.
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 15:58, Reply)
Was just listening to that in the car.
Fucking awesome.

I think the rule should be that you HAVE to turn it up massively to properly hear the spoon-solo bit.

@LIC
Am I the only b3tan who has actually pointed to their house on the google map?
(, Thu 19 Mar 2009, 17:02, Reply)
Hard to say
A bunch of people put themselves on, so could have been as vague or as accurate as they felt necessary.

Mine is about a minute's amble from my house.
