Can anybody recommend some high tempo music that I could find on spotify (or might have in my CD collection but not thought of)?
Nothing I've been listening to has quite been right (mostly the mars volta, pendulum, slipknot and SOAD). Mezmerize and Hypnotize by SOAD are the closest I've got to the kind of thing I'm after but there are still too many slow bits and I don't want to keep listening to those on repeat!
I realise that this could be an impossible mission but I'm not too fussed about genre if that helps.

Just after rock/metal stuff? How about Strapping Young Lad, Atari Teenage Riot, Slayer?
Edit: Just read the last bit. Sadly Spotify doesn't have much/anything in the range of industrial hardcore stuff, but that always gets my pulse going. Stuff like Endymion, Armageddon Project, Tieum, Moleculez.

Slayer is a good choice.
If you're after an entire album of good songs, The Distillers Coral Fang is pretty nifty, if you're into that sort of thing!?

are pretty cool too. Try Perfect Pitch Black or Antenna, they're good albums.

They opened for the Foos a few years ago and got booed off the stage. I really liked them and sent the lead singer an email saying I wasn't one of the booers and I really liked their music and he sent me the Tides of Tomorrow EP in the post. :)
I got really into them after they released Antenna.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:25, Reply)

I saw them... I don't remember when or where, but they opened with Stained Silver, and it was amazing!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:36, Reply)

and the opening track on the Antenna album. I really rate them because each time they release a new album they change their sound completely so you never know what to expect from them. That’s the same reason I rate Saves the Day, completely different sound but they also aren't afraid to try something new. :)

My tastes are broad enough that I wont say no to anything so long as it's fast enough :)
There's no strapping young lad on spotify, Atari teenage riot seem to mostly be too slow.
Hadn't thought of slayer, trying out pantera at the moment which isn't too bad so I'll listen to some slayer after that.

Some of The Offspring seems high tempo, and they are the greatest rock band to come out of the states.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 11:57, Reply)

Linkin Park has some good stuff.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:18, Reply)

The offspring would probably be good though. Will listen to them later.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:27, Reply)

but those might be a little harder to find.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:02, Reply)

Yes, bloody love them. Deviant and PSI are my favourite albums!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:04, Reply)

Good call.
I saw Buckcherry yesterday, thought of you!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:05, Reply)

I'd worry more that you're forever associated in my head with a song called "Crazy Bitch".
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:12, Reply)

This should at least take me a while to give it all a try :)
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:02, Reply)

But I've lost it and they're not on spotify :(
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:06, Reply)

I'll have to burn you a copy.
Try this for now:

As I don't think there's anything that'll come nearly as close to what I want as that does.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:14, Reply)

It's a mighty fine album.
It seems perfect for a certain kind of mood.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:16, Reply)

I strongly recommend this:

Although I'm not gonna be responsible for you going nuts.

Static-X.
If robots listened to music, they'd listen to Static-X.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:07, Reply)

Listened to the beginning of The Only, loved it then noticed that the first track on Cult of Static is called Lunatic.
I like.

That explains why your genitals are so small: You've no practical use for them.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:58, Reply)

"These genitals are for display purposes only.
Any resemblance to other genitals is purely coincidental."
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:01, Reply)

So you don't actually have any genitals at all? Poor thing. Poor Mel

Although the thought of you prancing through a picturesque park in summer with ribbons in your hands and singing walking on sunshine (in her voice, not yours) is freaking brilliant.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:08, Reply)

Paul Oakenfold, Prodigy, Ministry, KMFDM, Rammstein, get some decent trance stuff and its high tempo high energy, fuckit, even pop will eat itself
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:05, Reply)

so I'm going to say The Pogues.
(You may not wish to take the advice of someone who doesn't recognise the sounds of today's popular youth bands though.)
Edit:
also - Afghan Whigs in their rock-y stage; The Wildhearts "Earth vs. The Wildhearts"; Stiff Little Fingers.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:14, Reply)

This is not nearly fast enough :(
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:19, Reply)

I saw them about 6 times in the early days, from tiny wee venues to the Ulster Hall and some festival that I can't remember. Then they released Infernal Love and it all went to shit.

Will have some therapy later.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:25, Reply)

and the bassist was sick on me.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:32, Reply)

Bad knee / massive heroin addiction FTW!
I didn't see them on that tour, first saw them on the PHUQ tour. Got me into rock, they did!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:34, Reply)

I claimed the fourth space in the car, so I'm coming on holiday with you. YAY!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:56, Reply)

To be specific, the compilation album '80-85'
Oh, and Operation Ivy.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:22, Reply)

Why is all my fast, loud stuff on cassette and my slow chilled stuff on CD and mp3? It seems unfair and is probably a sign of "maturity". ha.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:23, Reply)

except its mostly all on vinyl.
UK Subs, The Ruts, Sham69, English Dogs etc.
All my American stuff tends to be on CD nowadays but the English stuff just has to be played on vinyl for a true aural experience.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:27, Reply)

the polyphonic spree (light and day)
they're perhaps a little folksy but they're very cool
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:26, Reply)

by Daft Punk is fast and bassy. What about NIN too? I enthusiastically second the recommendations of Rammstein and KMFDM. Drug against War in particular :-)
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:39, Reply)

So can't comment. But here are my favourites:
The Clash - Complete Control
Pixies - Head On
The Ramones - I Don't Want to Grow Up
The Replacements - Favourite Thing
and finally as CHCB mentioned:
The Pogues - Body of an American
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:43, Reply)

Anything by 'Conflict' or 'Discharge' (only the early stuff) would do the job as well.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:53, Reply)

Distillers - Sing Sing Death House is awesome. Also Alec Empire - Futurist. Umm... Help She Can't Swim - Fashonista Super Dance Troupe. Also - Be your Own Pet. Oh, and some Modest mouse can be good.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 12:47, Reply)

I'd forgotten all about them. They still going?
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:07, Reply)

I like them, but I think you realy have to be in the mood for them. At the moment I'm more listening to Belle and sebastian and grandaddy to be honest
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:13, Reply)

I'm going to see Blur in a couple of weeks and am suffering from crippling nostalgia.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:16, Reply)

Nice one! Damn. I haven't been to a gig in ages. I should get some lined up realy. How are camera obscura? I think I've listened to a few of their songs at some point.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:18, Reply)

Just an arena thing. Can't wait. You might get a ticket if you look... I love Camera Obscura. They have that wall-of-sound thing going on most of the time, all symphonic and Phil Spector-ish. Like a poppier B&S I suppose.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:25, Reply)

Hrm. Camera Obscura sound interesting, I'll lastfm them I think - have a listen. Thanks!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:29, Reply)

And seriously, try to get a ticket. Where in the country are you? I got Manchester tickets with ease :-)
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:32, Reply)

Trouble is, no cash at the moment, just started a new job and all. Still, if they havent sold out in a week I might be able to get some :D
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:33, Reply)

It'd be great to see them live - and yes, nostalgic. I remember listening to them in school.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:39, Reply)

I once sang along to Girls and Boys with the girl who used to bully me. It was a beautiful moment. We'd moved on, she was no longer beating me up and calling me names. I have still rejected her invitations THREE TIMES on facebook though. I'm not an idiot.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:42, Reply)

Not bad! And yeah, I've noticed a spurt of old school "friends" adding me on facebook. Must be something in the water.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:46, Reply)

They want to rifle through your profile. And laugh. I was tempted to accept. So she could see that I'm ok nowadays etc etc. But I don't care enough to open some bloody portal!
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:51, Reply)

I mean, who realy wants to know how someone you went to school with is doing 5 years on? Apart from 2 or 3 good friends I honestly don't think I'd recognise half the people that I went to school with, let alone want to be friends with them or find out how they're doing or whatever. And yeah, I understand not wanting to open a portal or something.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:55, Reply)

Core, Dinner Time, Eat It Up Worms Hero,Gena Lollobridgida, Dive, To Go Off and Things - especially To Go Off and Things.
Oh, and Bell Clinks and Bell Stinks off Sing to God.
( , Mon 15 Jun 2009, 13:40, Reply)

Tricore might fit the bill. Not signed or anything, though I believe they managed to get their first EP uploaded to iTunes. I only heard of them when I was doing calibration down in Teddington where the bassist works as a lab tech by day. One of those who, although I'm not really into that kind of music, sound like they're good at what they do.
Alternatively, if you want the best in pan-genre omni-rock, I share an office with the drummer from Todger. Upbeat phallo-centric rock which has got to be worth a listen.
