By Faith No More.
Their cover of War Pigs is fuckin' sexy.
What cover versions of songs would you say also fall into the category of "fuckin' sexy"?

Poppies at Coventry uni around 1994 is one of my top 3 gigs ever!

Saw them at Newcastle uni in 89, and at Reading in 1990. Clint Mansell's in high demand as a film score composer now, I think.

That a lot of people think that his version is the original.
That's the mark of a Mighty Fine cover.

Natalie Imbuglia's version of 'Torn' then? Since most people think it was the original...
Not that I've heard the original, I have to say.
Oh, also 'Here's Where the Story Ends' by Tin Tin Out. The Sundays were much better and they did it first.

they did "Life is Life". I should dig out the stuff of theirs that I have. Not sure if "The Final Countdown" is one of their covers but if it isn't, it should be.

"Laibach also memorably re-work Europe's glam metal anthem "The Final Countdown" as a Wagnerian disco epic."
( , Thu 18 Jun 2009, 20:26, Reply)

*Edit* CHCB got there first.

Johnny Cash - Not just 'Hurt' but also 'Rusty Cage' and 'Personal Jesus' - superb versions
And I have a guilty pleasure in loving William Shatner's cover version of 'Common People' due to the sheer outlandish take on it.
and the Ukulele Orchestra of GB's cover of 'Wuthering Heights' is a joy to behold
