There's an advert for coffee, I think it might be Kenco
which boasts they now have 98% less packaging as they've switched from glass jars to plastic pouches, the caveat on the ad is that it's 98% by weight. But this seems silly since glass is easily and relatively cheaply recyclable whereas plastic pouches are just going to get thrown out. Plus plastic is made form oil, whereas glass is made from sand, and we've got a lot of sand in the world.

So they are claiming to be greener, but they're really not. I for one am shocked at this. Who's with me?

You know when people die and they say 'They're always with you' or 'They're watching over you'?
Surely that applies to everyone? So, maybe not only my Uncle Jim is watching over me, but maybe Fred West is too?

(, Tue 23 Feb 2010, 13:43, Reply)
why?
it doesn't make it less true or interesting
(, Tue 23 Feb 2010, 13:50, Reply)
I enjoy QI as much as the next man
but talking about it is like the nerds equivalent of water cooler conversations about Eastenders. Same goes for 'Mock The 'Week', 'Argumental' etc.

It's not a criticism, Vipros! Merely an opinion. Hence the proposal so elegantly seconded by La Belle Mlle. Blouse.

There is a shit load of energy needed to make glass
a lot more than it takes to make a couple of grams of plastic.

If the glass was re-used in its original form, then that would be better, rather than re-melting it all the time.

You are rather dim Today, buck up.

What do you think of Marks'n'Spencer's "Radiant Rainbow Layers" fruit cocktail?
I think it's a bit pricey, 2 for £5, but it makes a perfect breakfast for me, and it is really tastey, and has all my favorite fruits (minus Grayham Norton).

I think, on the grand scheme of things, £2.50 isn't to much of an excravigant amount to spend on a breakfast, esspeically if it sets you up for the day and make you more than £2.50 worth of productive.

That's just my opinion on the whole matter.
(, Tue 23 Feb 2010, 13:51, Reply)
I find the buying a bag of sainsburys basic frozen fruit cocktail
defrosting briefly in the microwave and then blending with a fruit juice of your choice sets you up quite nicely.

it costs £1 for a bag that lasts a week.

but as I hate every living thing on this planet and relish the day that all resources become uneconomical to extract, thus plunging us into a post apocalyptic nightmare where I can finally kill everyone who ever looked at me crosswise, I applauded their attitude.
