This afternoon I have managed to upset my neighbours on both sides.
All I did was play Jah Wobble/Bill Laswell: RadioAxiom A Dub Transmission a bit too loud.
Turns out I couldn't hear Pat banging on my front door.
Oops.

What have you achieved today?

Well I woke up
The shakes have mostly gone and my head is more or less ok now. Still feel very out of touch with reality on some fundamental level. I also learnt that tequila tastes marginaly better on the way out.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 16:59, Reply)
Tequila really is horrible stuff, I reckon.
Why else would you need salt and lime?
Bleh!
Bananas make good hangover food, packed with potassium don't ya know ;-)
still shakey at tea time? You must've really tied one on last night...
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:07, Reply)
Yeah, drank a fair bit
Was a fun night, did some impressively stupid things and was asked very kindly (not that I remember this) not to sleep on the grass bit outside the prison by the prison guard person.

Why shouldn't you lie under a cow?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:06, Reply)
Because they're big and heavy
and not very bright and might step on you?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:08, Reply)
Good answer...
but it's not what we're looking for
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:08, Reply)
To be fair though
if it was a choice between getting trampled to death by a spooked cow or getting shat on by the same cow, I'd rather get shat on.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:13, Reply)
What?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:09, Reply)
Because you'll get a pat on the head

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:10, Reply)
An oldy but a goody ;-)
Should've spotted that one a mile off...

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:14, Reply)
What is it with b3tans and holes at the moment?
althegeordie watched somebody dig 4 massive holes today.

Naz ne dogonyat!
No, but seriously, Fredzeshka, would you listen to a song and tell me the real words and not make up a song about bumming?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:34, Reply)
surely you can just put them into
babelfish.

Also, I'm sure there's a site that translates Rammstein lyrics, maybe there's one for this band too. I don't know any Russian bands. Except Tatu.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:35, Reply)
I can't get hold of the lyrics written down.
So it needs to be audio.

EDIT, and I can sing loads of Tatu songs in cod-russian!
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:36, Reply)
Ahh pissnuts

'fraid not
I can't realy speak Russian I'm afraid. Well, apart from yes, no, comrade, spark, goodbye, you and sorry. Though if you've got the song lyrics - I'm fairly certain I can find a translation thing that'll romanise the lyrics - making it easier to translate.

:( they're not anywhere
Some fella I know said his mate was gonna do it but he hasn't.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:37, Reply)
Only enough to be offensive, will that do?

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:28, Reply)
No, I need something translating

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:29, Reply)

(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:34, Reply)
I work
with some Ukrainians, i'll tap one of them up and ask if they can translate it for you?
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:56, Reply)
Oooh, start with "You're Russian, right?"
That always goes down well.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 17:59, Reply)
Haha
A similar approach is always advisable with Greeks/Turks, I've found.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 18:03, Reply)
Cypriots are the best for this.
I recommend Green Lanes in Haringey.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 18:08, Reply)
The first evening I met my Polish father-in-law I accidentaly offended him by commenting that to me spoken Polish and Russian sounded similar.
He quite literally spat on the floor of their apartment in disgust!
I thought he wuz gonna kill me.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 18:22, Reply)
Aha
well some of them regard themselves as more russian than ukrainian, they are based near the border in Kharkiv so shouldn't be a problem
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 22:03, Reply)
Get in!
That would be cracking!
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 18:05, Reply)
Jeez, Roota, that was hard work. Here it is translated for you. Into Japanese.
Odayaka na hibi ni deateta no nara
'Subete yume datta yo' tte mezamete mitai
Dore kurai kimi wo machitsuzuketa darou?
Setsunasa igai wa mou koko ni nai

Me ga kuramu hizashi ga terashiteru
Kogoeta kokoro wa moeru you ni
Miageta hitomi wa sora wo megakete
Saigo no hitotsu made mabushii ya wo hanatsu

Written by Alexander Morozov & Albert Azizov, I think.
according to this

Larry :(
You're always being a pest.
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 19:58, Reply)
- but you love it.
Sorry, sweets, but I've busted me nuts on this and got nowhere really.
The song is probably "You and the Sky", although one site gave it as "You and the Sky (for Takeoff)" but my Russian is so crap it could just have meant you could download it.
Can't you just sing any old Ken Dodd song to it? Actually, I think that does sound like a Ken Dodd song, I was never a big fan of his - he induced dry retching which detracted from his music somewhat.
Good luck. (And that link above - looks the same, but just the same staging. Looks like a school hall.)
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 20:05, Reply)
Thanks Larry, this may prove helpful whe I'm persuading russian students to translate it
AT GUNPOINT.
I must know :(
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 20:29, Reply)
The song might be based on
Yesterday looked-not doglyadela
this sky in the stars
or stars in the sky
like holes in the body,
as frames in a film
as unknown and the unknown,
as I and Thou
in large this world.

- but I think probably not. What I can pick up is really schlocky.

I believe you Roota - it ain't out there.
Well it is, if you can find the Russian Songfacts and someone to read it. Bo'soir!
(, Wed 10 Mar 2010, 21:55, Reply)

I'm going to tie her up and make her listen and translate tomorrow.
