Storming gig last night!
Scroobius Pip vs. Dan Le Sac at Koko - a mix of old and new songs, all performed excellently (as usual).

One of the supports was a girl who couldn't have been more than 14 - her music wasn't great, but her spoken word intro was phenomenal. And I realised that she was far better at it than I could ever aspire to be.

Anyone else suddenly feeling old and slightly depressed round here?

For 80% of regular posters "feeling old and slightly depressed" is their default setting.

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:01, Reply)
yep
that'd be about right, and sad and a bit lonely as well though for me please.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:03, Reply)
Blimey
That makes two of us. I'll raise you with undervalued and used.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:05, Reply)
don't have those
but I can see you with grumpy and plodding along life on autopilot
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:08, Reply)
Actually
I've reviewed my emotions. I felt mildly old and slightly depressed last night watching the afore-mentioned support act, all of which disappated in a cloud of "whee!" when the Scroob came on.

This morning I feel achey and sore-throated from whooping and cheering and jumping last night. But chirpy!

Welcome to my world.

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:02, Reply)
Maybe, but you're not old, I however actually am old

I'm seeing them in Oxford on Sunday
but you knew that already. I'm totally excited!
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:03, Reply)
Where are they playing?

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:12, Reply)
The old Zodiac/Carling, now the O2.

Pffft I dunno.
It's small and a bit skanky and will be full of popped collars and dreadlocks.

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:16, Reply)
Not so much old and slightly depressed
As approaching 40 and feeling a bit flat after yesterday.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:07, Reply)
Sorry to hear about that.
I hope it was ok.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:17, Reply)
Cheers.
Yeah, it was. I didn't blub once until I got home
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:27, Reply)

I wish I could do that superfast "flick the wool over the needle" thing.
But I can't. Only grannies can do that. It's their special power.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:20, Reply)
That looks so cool
There are young'uns round here who can do that.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:29, Reply)
knitting is the new rock and roll.
It must be true, a magazine said so.

Although it might have been a magazine about knitting.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:17, Reply)
Yep, I'm knitting in an ironic, hip way.
*shakes cool indie fringe out of eyes*
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:19, Reply)
are you knitting
really, really long scarves and floppy hats and bangles and skinny jeans?

Or baby clothes?
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:30, Reply)
Guilty as charged.
Cardigan for the baby. In my defence, it's that mottled multicoloured wool - bright pink and purple. And it's a kimono cardi.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:33, Reply)
are you going to use the leftover wool
to also make matching cardies for you and Catface? That would be awesome freaky interesting
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:35, Reply)
AND we'll buy matching anoraks too!

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:45, Reply)
yay!
POIDH, you knows thems the rules!
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:58, Reply)
Knitting is so last year
Crochet is where it's at.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:32, Reply)
I like crochet, not just because it's an anagram of e-crotch.
It's been years since I handled a hook, though.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:34, Reply)
a mate of mine once sat down on a sofa
and got a crochet hook firmly stuck in his arse cheek. had to go to hospital to get it removed.

how we laughed.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:39, Reply)
and my bloke complains about the amount of pins I leave lying around

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:45, Reply)
Be very careful about 'sharing needles'..
...I am sure I read somewhere that is bad for you.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:32, Reply)
I'm feeling quite chipper
realised last night that my beard is getting massively long, which has pleased me
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:34, Reply)
Are you going to keep going until you look like God?

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:35, Reply)
I reckon once it gets beyond a certain length
(which I haven't quite decided on) that I will probably plait it or bind it or something, like a viking. it's got a long way to go though.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:38, Reply)
Hmm
I'm not convinced on that one...
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:39, Reply)
I'm also planning on having massive bushy hair
sticking out of the back of a big bandana. I'm going to make an awesome crazy old man.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:41, Reply)
Why not wait until you're old then?
That poor girl...
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:41, Reply)
it's not going to happen overnight
it takes time. I've been growing this beard for about 2 and a half years and it's only about 4 inches long.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 10:42, Reply)
Fair enough
You'll suit it when you're middle aged.
EDIT: I mean the huge beard and hair thing.
(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 11:01, Reply)
haha

(, Wed 24 Mar 2010, 11:25, Reply)
Metal beard!
