How's the hangover?
Did you have a great birthday?

I was on my own last night and have a icky stomach this morning.
But I'm a brave little soldier.

Peppermint or ginger

Morning Mr K2K6.
How's life?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 8:59, Reply)
Fine thanks
Except for an annoying little hay-fevery sniffle today, despite popping my daily antihistamine.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:01, Reply)
I've got an interview whoooooooOOOOo

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 8:59, Reply)
Who with?

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:00, Reply)
Still within the NHS but it's a big headoffice job in london.
I'll be one of those civil servant fat cats the Mail hates so much.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:01, Reply)
Good luck with that.
I'm going to walk to MILTON KEYNES today.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:03, Reply)
It's a nice day,
which part of MK?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:03, Reply)
Coming from my side
so past Calverton on the outskirts then through Two Mile Ash, over the line to the station then on a bus home.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:05, Reply)
Ah going to walk past the abbey?
You should go to bow brickhill soon, about this time of year there's some weird and massive plants going crazy near the top.

Don't do it!

Through Two Mile Ash, past the badminton centre, Loughton Lodge and over the railway.
Bow Brickhill is a bit out of my way on this trip.

Good luck!

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:04, Reply)
Thanks, I'll get to work from home 2 days a week, in my pants.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:05, Reply)
I couldn't work from home, I'd get too distracted
unless I had an office in a treehouse
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:06, Reply)
I'm going to claim one on expenses.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:08, Reply)
Please, please do
Also make sure on the receipt it says "Sign x 1 no girls aloud"
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:10, Reply)
But he loves Girls Aloud
especially Nadine. She's the ugly one.

Wow! that would be my dream job.

Hmm
I'm sorry, I don't believe you

you would like to get into Chompy's pants?

Edit: Damn you Mr American Smooth!
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:08, Reply)
That might be the best nickname I've ever had
I'll make it my sig as soon as England are out of the World Cup
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:12, Reply)
In about a week then?

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:13, Reply)
At LEAST a week!
Think big! A week and a half if we make the second round!
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:18, Reply)
I'm Scottish... ;-)

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:19, Reply)
Ah, so the second round is but a rumour to you ;-)
Sorry, that was mean
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:20, Reply)
Recently (i.e. in the last decade and more)
even getting to the finals has been but a dream.

The good thing about being a Scot is that we know the team's pish so don't expect to do well! Unlike the English media, which seemed to have the cup won for England before the tournament even started.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:23, Reply)
Yep
Winds me up. For three months before the tournament the media is picking the team and saying how we should believe we can win it if this or that happens, then tearing the players apart for their perceived shortcomings
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:25, Reply)
You'll be ok as long as you don't do another Green

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:01, Reply)
Easy for you to say
You're Spanish. You've got the best keeper, the best midfielder and the best striker in the world. Oh, and the best team
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:47, Reply)
That's just talk
It doesn't mean they'll win or they'll do any good. All the other selections are going to play at their best against Spain. It won't be easy.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:57, Reply)
True
But it will be easier for you than all the other teams, cos you've got the best team
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:59, Reply)
Well, I have to admit the true
We, Spaniards are THE BEST!!!!
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 11:02, Reply)
Good luck
I thought the general idea was to fire civil servants these days, rather than hire more.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:07, Reply)
Technically the NHS isn't the civil service and it's just an internal thing
not hiring externally.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:09, Reply)
As long as you're not just another overpaid manager
I hope you get the job.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:15, Reply)
Nope, just an overpaid bean counter.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:23, Reply)
I think "Overpaid" is the key thing here
Good luck mate
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:25, Reply)
I was going to say that
But didn't want to be rude.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:40, Reply)
If you're going to be rude
this is the best place to do it. You slag.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:52, Reply)
Slag?
I've never been called that before!

Oh, wait... maybe... Mmmm...
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:00, Reply)
You've got an important part of that working in your favour already then.
I've got an interview this evening
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:45, Reply)
Good luck 'n all.
More nursing?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:53, Reply)
Will you be charged with anything?

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:53, Reply)
Oh you're calling me fat,
thanks, and good luck.

Morning. Howdo?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:02, Reply)
Well that's not very friendly.
Unless it's friendly fire.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:05, Reply)
Well I did miss.
Besides, if we were both 5 years old, me shooting you with a spudgun is pretty much a declaration of love. Along with chinese burns, pulling ponytails etc.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:43, Reply)
Back of the queue, Berk.
Some of us have been waiting a loooong time.

How do, Miss Blouse.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:24, Reply)
Mark has an interview in Worthing on Friday!!
I don't know anything about the place, but I'm so excited with the possibility of living near the beach! And half the average rainfall than Manchester!!

Oh, yes, good morning everyone, did you have a good weekend?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:05, Reply)
*crosses fingers*

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:07, Reply)
He's the only one being interviewed
So I think it's more a formality and to try to convince him to join. The main problem will be to find me a job, but I'm not too bother, I have some savings and could do with a month or two off.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:12, Reply)
It will be a good reason for me to travel to somewhere else I've never been.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:19, Reply)
There you are
And if you're feeling brave, we can make and adventure of it and drive to France. Eat some good cheese, drink some good wine or cider, enjoy the sun... Oh, I have to stop thinking about it, in case he doesn't like the job...
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:28, Reply)
Oooo! how exciting.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:33, Reply)
I know, I know
Just 3 more days to know.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:41, Reply)
Half the average rainfall of Manchester
is still a lot of rain!
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:07, Reply)
In average it's even less than in Barcelona
But in Barcelona you get heavy storms 5 days a month, rather than lighter rain 10 days/month. Still a lot better than the average 15days/month in Manchester (August for all of them).
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:10, Reply)
I think I'd rather live in Barcelona than Worthing
And I've not even been to Worthing.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:11, Reply)
Me too
If it wasn't for those silly catalans and their stupid "You're in our country, speak our language"; and the discrimination you get if you try to sort anything out in Spanish. And I was born there.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:13, Reply)
I was amused by the drain covers in Barcelona
Some of them have Spanish writing on them and some have Catalan.

And no, I don't know why I was going around reading drain covers...
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:15, Reply)
In theory, everything has to be written in both languages
You get fined if you don't do it (shops, menus, prices...) However, the goverment always takes a lot longer (read: forever) to process the fines on busnisses (too many "s" there) that have everything in Catalan, but are terribly quick in charging you if you have something only in Spanish.

Were the drains Gaudí style or what?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:22, Reply)
Unfortunately not
I just noticed the agua/aigua difference initially!
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:25, Reply)
Hahaha
Were you very drunk/stoned and everything seemed misterious?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:28, Reply)
I studied Gaudi in my history module of my degree
I like his park, I want to go there.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:34, Reply)
the park is ok
there were too many cunts there when I went, and the weather was shit.

His houses are awesome though, and la Sagrade Familia blew me away.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:39, Reply)
I agree with you
Although I've been in the park several times and when the weather is good, it's very nice. But I prefer the houses and the Sagrada Familia. It'll never be as he planned, though, some stupid people are stupid, and then the law is stupid as well and protects them. Stupid.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:42, Reply)
it is stupid
the modern sculptures they commissioned for one end are a bit shit really. they look like robots.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:48, Reply)
Well, what can we do
We are only public, and we know nothing.

BTW, I thought about you on Sat morning, having my croissant and café for breakfast in Nantes. It's lovely down there. And the bakeries are brilliant.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:59, Reply)
how sweet :-)

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:07, Reply)
I was planning to take a picture, looking all smug and that
But forgot the camera all the 3 days for breakfast. You'll have to use your imagination.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:14, Reply)
I intended to recreate the smug man photo when I was on holiday
as we had a balcony type thing, but I forgot to buy croissants :-(
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:18, Reply)
How sad
You'll have to go on holidays again, I fear.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:30, Reply)
I think so!

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:31, Reply)
This time tomorrow I will be leisurely packing for my 3 o'clock to Girona
By night time I'll be in a restaurant around Blanes stuffing my face with food and wine.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:11, Reply)
I don't hate you
I do.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:13, Reply)
*stamps feet and clicky clacks castonets*

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:15, Reply)
I'm not sure what you're doing there
But you might be dancing like in Andalucía, not Catalonia. They'll get very upset (I do) if you ever say that Flamenco is a Spanish thing, because it isn't.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:23, Reply)
You should
I do

No offence

You bastard
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:17, Reply)
I REALLY hate you.
Those are two of my favourite places (were. 25 years ago anyway).

Worthing's alright, yeah.
Been a couple of times. Lots of old people.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:08, Reply)

We might consider living somewhere else, maybe near Brighton, but we have to look at house prices.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:10, Reply)
Next door to brighton, which is fun

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:09, Reply)
And expensive!
I'll need to find a job myself down there. He's got to ask if I have any possibility of getting anything within 2-3 months.

It's one of their films, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail"
not as professional looking as "Life of Brian", but some say it's funnier.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:18, Reply)
Oh, I've seen it, in Spanish
That's why I didn't get it.

I prefer it to Life of Brian. It's a lot funnier.

I can't find it :-(
I shall simply assume that someone said on of my pics looks like Jeremy Hardy - the bottom one, I'm guessing - and shall add him to the list of unlikely comparisons made. This includes (genuinely) Tom Cruise, John Barrowman, Johnny Galecki and Gok Wan.

There are still tickets available
Vipros will buy you a drink.

Seriously, we should work out when there are no bands you, me or Amberl want to see on, and meet up to get hammered. Is the future Mrs Vipros coming?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:50, Reply)
It's the first week of MrsP's hols. I think she may require my presence.
Unfortunately we have vastly divergent taste in music, well mostly.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:58, Reply)
Myself and Ms Foxtrot are much the same
But she's hugely open-minded and always comes along when I DJ and dances to everything. I, on the other hand, know what is good and consider it my duty to loudly point out what's not.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:01, Reply)
she is, and my mate Fraser
we should arrange that. I apologise in advance for being just as belligerent and insulting in person as I am on here.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:08, Reply)
I don't think you're all that belligerent or insulting
But away from B3ta and in the presence of normal, polite humans, you may be a complete cow

I should apologise for being even camper in real life than the popular opinion on here paints me. But I won't
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:10, Reply)
you don't?
clearly I'm not trying hard enough!

I'm actually easy going and personable. As long as I've had enough spliffs :-)
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:17, Reply)
I can't imagine spliffs will be easy to come by at an open air rock festival
Who are you most pant-spaffingly excited about seeing?
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:20, Reply)
probably going to be tricky
I intend to do some baking before we go :-)

probably Iron Maiden, although Pendulum, Bigelf, The Cult and Alice in Chains are vying for it
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:32, Reply)
Why should it be?
Whenever I've been to Reading or Leeds there's a veritable fug of dopesmoke over the campsites, and you can pretty much smell it wherever you go throughout the day. It's not that hard to sneak in - at Reading somebody had about 3oz of £20 bags and was wandering round selling them, and not particularly subtly either.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:38, Reply)
was being facetious :-)
there was an awful lot of police presence at sonisphere last year though, wandering around the camping areas even. quite annoying. meant I had to hide away in my tent or act like a meercat when I wanted a smoke
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:42, Reply)
What are they like for patting you down when you go in?
No reason for asking, you understand

/whistles
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 10:45, Reply)
into the arena they are quite strict
I saw various people having stuff taken away so I didn't bother trying. Camping was close enough to the arena that regular spliff breaks weren't too much trouble.

on the way into the camping etc. when we arrived it was fine. as long as you didn't look like a little shit or some kind of crusty.

(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 9:18, Reply)
Sadly not

Paella - Abs, you must have a recipe to share.
Let's have it, B3ta will try it, and we can all compare our results by Friday.

I have 3 recipes to share
Fish and seafood
Fish, meat and seafood
Meat and seafood

They are quite similar, the main difference is at the beginning. You need as well a good paella pan and a good fire.

Pliz explain more
what makes a good pan - is a heavy frying pan OK?
And a good fire? - surely all fire is good? - I have a gas ring, will that do?
And then we can move on to the recipe.

The pan doesn't need to be heavy
It has to be flat, and share the heat everywhere the same, and not deep. The fire needs to be in a ring (like yours) in around the middle of the pan, or a bit towards the edge, so that the heat gets shared everywhere the same. If you do it outdoors, look out for wind that might be blowing part of the flame, that'll make a mess of the paella.

Good ones (if a bit expensive, but not much) here:
This is the traditional one:
www.thepaellacompany.co.uk/polished-steel-paella-pans.html
But you can search in the web for others that offer easy cooking and non-stick, which are equally good.

For the recipe, I need a bit of time to write it, I'll post it after lunch.

man I love paella
I look forward to your recipe!

in fact I love good food. I need to get my bro's recipe for squid stuffed with chorizo

Mmmm...
Squid stuffed is always good.

Do you like chick peas? There is a terribly easy recipe with them and sobrasada (like chorizo butter, a very soft chorizo that you spread on bread)

Boil the chick peas (or buy them boiled) put them on a dry pan. Add the sobrasada (as much as you want) and heat. Ready. It's the best food ever! (if quite unhealthy)

Of course, to do this dish, you use very cheap sobrasada, so the whole thing is around £2 or less, perfect for students.

I'm considering opening a Spanish products shop in Worthing if I can't get a job there.

I've never heard of that stuff
it sounds great.
(, Tue 15 Jun 2010, 11:37, Reply)
It's far too good
I can't stop eating it, so I've stop buying it. It's even better with a bit of cheese on top of the spreaded bread and lightly grilled on the oven. Oooooh mmmm... I'd kill for one now.

I slept funny and now I have a hurty neck and back. :( A sad shortage of massage volunteers in the office, too.
