Today
I walked three miles to get back home, dragging a suitcase, rather than wait two hours for a bus. What unlikely and/or amazing thing have you done today?

Alt Q: I have no food in the house. Take my mind off my hunger. Not a question, just a plea
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:45, 111 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I spotted Ed first. Amazing
I thought Roger was WBM/Batshit. Not amazing.

How long did your walk take?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:47, Reply)
congrats on the Ed spotting
It took me about one and a half hours, but was slightly over three miles and I am a very slow walker
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:50, Reply)
That's good that, and with a suitcase

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:50, Reply)
I was a bit pleased
but I never want to walk again.

I'm going to end up like one of those people in Wall-E
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:08, Reply)
my leg muscles are still aching from the weekend
from all the walking and standing and today I had to walk along the steepest river I've ever seen.

joy
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:09, Reply)
yeah the weekend really did me in
it was pure willpower that dragged me along for the last mile, just wanted to sit on the wayside
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:15, Reply)
not surprised
was the weather ok?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:18, Reply)
yeah it was sunny and nice
thankfully. If only I could muster the energy for a lovely long bath now
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:34, Reply)
why didn't you get a cab?

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:51, Reply)
no cabs here
and only one bus, that still only took me within a mile
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:59, Reply)
I have co-operative fairtrade chocolate chip shortbread. All you have to do is come to zone 5 to claim your one
I've had a half day today and unpacked the last of my stuff. I've also been to tesco and done a food shop. My life is exhilerating and I think everyone should try it.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:54, Reply)
I might go to Tesco

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:55, Reply)
that's not
very cooperative shortbread
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:17, Reply)
Better than that surly shortbread
that hides behind the crisps.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:30, Reply)
So is that you back home now
After being away somewhere? I have no idea where, but I'm sure you've been somewhere. I can just tell.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 17:55, Reply)
Amazingly
I managed to stop myself eating all the Pringles in the office.

Some of the ouch stories will really put you off your grub, this one and the first reply made me feel a bit off.

I missed the bit that made it awful
How exactly does it stop one wanting to eat?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:01, Reply)
The reply about biting them off I'm guessing
Now I'm hungry.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:06, Reply)
It's not awful
I think it's a very well written story, but something about the thought of dogs overfed on testicles made me feel queasy.

Reply might temporarily put me off lamb koftas.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:13, Reply)
I've walked alongside a river
taking photos of stuff for work.

North Somerset coastline near Exmoor is absolutely breathtaking.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:03, Reply)
Nothing much
apart from going into a clothes shop, seeing several things I liked, that fitted and suited me, and not buying them. That's extraordinary.
I am now at home with CSI:NY and fizzy water.

How far away's the local shop?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:08, Reply)
local shop
is the three miles I just walked. I found some burgers in the freezer, and some pitta bread in a airtight package, so I might do something with that. There are is the beer as well
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:15, Reply)
There are is?
I think there certainly are is beer in you. Good to be home?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:18, Reply)
it's good to be sitting down
and it is lovely to be alone and able to be a bit messy etc
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:33, Reply)
Three miles from the nearest shop!
Where do you live, Saddleworth Moor?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:21, Reply)

Speaking of food
If I slice some mushrooms, finely chop a couple of cloves of garlic and a couple of tomatoes, sautee the whole lot in olive oil for a bit, add a glass of red wine and heat it until it reduces by half, would that taste nice with steak? I'm a bit of a novice at this cookery stuff.

Also, how long would it take to reduce?
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:09, Reply)
it would taste nice
shouldn't take too long to reduce
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:11, Reply)
I shall give it a bash then
Woohoo!

(sorry Amberl, I recommend shopping)
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:13, Reply)
In the words of the song
I don't normally like tomatoes, John, but this is delicious!
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:56, Reply)
I thought the song was
'John, I'm only dancing'

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:16, Reply)
I haven't eaten or smoked since monday night
and I'm fucking hungry and I want a spliff and a fag. My face is swollen to shit and I can't shut my mouth. Even my new computer game is dogshit and I've watched all my movies. I'm gonna have to try smoking in a minute/
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:25, Reply)
in a reversal of usual events
I almost ran out of baccy last night. Plenty of weed, no baccy and no open shops within walking distance.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:32, Reply)
Little one skin blunt not on the cards?
i find if I use a rolly filter and a little rizla blunts are quite nice. I do love skinning up though. It gives me a whole new appreciation for Chinese Tea Ceremony.

I could murder a bifta right now
absolutely murder one. Can't be arsed to go and pick up though and my brother doesn't have any either. Rubbish.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:49, Reply)

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:27, Reply)
That's what all drug users aspire to.
Unfortunately most will become drugs journeymen destined to do lines off bog cisterns their entire lives.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:31, Reply)
this is how I know
I'll never be a MASSIVE drugs user. Too much effort
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:35, Reply)
I had the choice between massive drugs and sex a while back
I went for the latter.

being a single bird
i always have a pack of 50 frozen mini sausage rolls which cost just over a pahnd and roughly equates to 5 dinners. throw in a vanilla mini milk for afters and you cant go wrong really.

get it down yer.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:45, Reply)
mm mini milks
that does sound like a sensible plan.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:51, Reply)
I've not had them in ages. They're soooo lovely.

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:53, Reply)
I miss them
hard to find these days. And I think they replaced the strawberry flavour ones with real extract of strawberry and ruined it
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:55, Reply)
try chocolate flavour mini-Twisters
they are the fucking shiznit
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:58, Reply)
Whaaaaat that sounds amazing.
Will look for those!
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:58, Reply)
they are really good
really creamy and chocolatey
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:04, Reply)
The new uber-chocolate
caramel magnum is also really good, creamy and chocolatey. And caramely too. I've just realised I ate 5 99's this weekend. Shocking but tasty.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:24, Reply)
The Magnum Gold one?
Wasn't so keen. Do you remember the ones where it was a layer of chocolate then caramel or chocolate sauce then a layer of chocolate then icecream? Those were amazing.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:29, Reply)
No, not the gold one
it's called double caramel or something. Basically there's your chocolate shell, then a layer of caramel goo, then another chocolate shell and another layer of caramel goo, then your vanilla ice cream. I'm well tempted to nip out and get one to be honest, but I suspect laziness will win.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:57, Reply)
Delicious delicious. I'll try and find them.
I love Twisters too. Nom nom.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:58, Reply)
they are readily available in supermarkets

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:08, Reply)
I've never seen them

I've not seen them in a while. I love them.

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:24, Reply)
im well sensible me
get yourself a bag of those skinny oven chips in an all yeah and you'll never have to cook proper dinners again. skinny oven chips and gravy... skinny oven chips and curry sauce... skinny oven chips and mayo... the dinner possibilities are fucking endless
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:54, Reply)
one step closer
to my Wall-E figure. I love mayo, and even though I'm not a big gravy fan, with chips I can make an exception. And curry sauce.

I'm going to be an even more massive fattie by the end of summer
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 18:56, Reply)
replace a couple of meals with a gin and slimline and youre fighting fucking fit my little darling

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:00, Reply)
now that's a working plan
did a little search. Some Gordon's gin and a lurking bottle of tonic. Excellent advice there!
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:05, Reply)
i laughed at the little 'measuring cap' theyve fitted on the bottles of tonic now
any cunt worth his salt knows its half and half
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:12, Reply)
haha brilliant
this was my philosophy at the weekend. There should always be equal amounts of gin and mixer in a glass. Or more gin, that is acceptable
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:16, Reply)
this all depends on the level of ice and slice, its an art i tell you

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:17, Reply)
agreed
I want a good one now, but there is no ice or lemon.
(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:21, Reply)

earlier this year. Part way through, my wool got tangled. I spent a completely unreasonable amount of time untangling it. I have no idea how it is 7pm now, I thought it was about 4

(, Wed 4 Aug 2010, 19:26, Reply)
i have a book for toys but ive not tried them yet
i have grand plans of making things and selling them and giving up my job and finding an easily led boy who will cook and clean and look after my not yet popped babies while i make things and wear nice shoes
