Supposed to be having a jam with my mate with a view to doing an acoustic set with him later this month.
But I'm exhausted and I feel weird and I'm so going the doc's tomorrow to insist they find something wrong with me. I'll settle for Terminal Hypochondria.

Couldn't have done, were to busy laughing at mongs.
There was some bloke sitting behind her who ordered chips at the pub (I think it was _just_ chips), and bought out a loaf of bread from his bag.

I decided tonight that although I feel sorry for people who go to the pub by themselves (it's cool if you're in a strange town on buisness or something, but I'm talking about reguarly or generally) and don't talk to anyone, in a small way, I wish I could take them home and make sure they have a decent feed.

I reckon there should be a superhero there called The Socialisor, who goes around having friendly conversations with strangers in pubs who sit staring at wall for 8 hours nursing a pint, and show them the way of the offlisance that'll give them booze that they can drink at home watching telly instead.
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:43, Reply)

I sometimes think about going to the pub by myself to force myself to talk to new people but I never do :(
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:47, Reply)
You'd only meet cranks

(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:49, Reply)
Thing you gotta ask yourself is, do you want to really assosiate with the kind of people who's lives are so dull and miserable that they need to spend all day in a pub by themselves.
Instead, join a local 'walking' group, where they tour old buildings with bricks that have carved in them "This house was owned by Thomas Lipton in 1857" and "This brick was layed by Her Magisty, The Dukehairest of Yorkshire"... or a local collage course.
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:49, Reply)
I am almost tempted to join the 'crafters club'
which was in a local newsletter I got through my door. Not sure how they feel about crocheted eyeballs, though

tend to frequent the horse (post work drink or start of night), the star and garter, and the townhouse (friday live band night), but I go all over.

Used to go to the well a lot, mainly cos I knew a guy behind the bar so got cheap (free) drinks.

Have a horrible feeling I'll end up getting dragged to either Kelsey's or Koko's tomoro as its a friends birthday...

Try around 1998-2000, when I was doing my A-levels. It was vile. I got thrown out of there about once every two weeks.

Not done the quiz at the horse, yet. Quite often go to the Woodland Tavern for their quiz.

Yeah, I'm thinking I might slip out before any mention of Kokos...

Sort of yes
I'm in the process of applying for a phd so I need to save up as much money as I can.

My friend showed me a flyer asking for 'models' for a 'film' paying £300 a day. I was tempted... its 300 quid!
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:47, Reply)
Ah I see! My sister's doing a similar thing, but a step down the ladder
She's applying for work at the moment, and considering an MA in her favourite area. She's a clever thing, I've high hopes for her.

Haha! My friend got a job as a "hostess" at a "gentleman's bar". Alarm bells rang at the phrases "cash in hand" and "Sex is not compulsory". Oh dear.
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 21:50, Reply)

Yeah, it was an interesting advert. Oh I also got asked by a Russian friend if I knew anyone who he could put a Chechen in contact with who wanted someone to marry a Ukrainian girl for £5000.

Again, tempted, but hard to explain to the parents...

My middle sister has
chosen her engagement ring. From Tiffany, the cheapest silver one from the design she wants is £10,000. But as she says, who wants silver...

Now she just has to find a boyfriend, who then has to get a job that can afford one. Its all part of the plan...
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 22:08, Reply)
Chosen the ring before the man?
The most I've got is deciding I'm not wearing white for my wedding, but I'm not even sre if I will get married. But choosing specifics? That's commitment.
(, Thu 5 Aug 2010, 22:10, Reply)
Oh she
doesn't believe in sex, kissing, or relationships before marriage.

I'm not quite clear on how she plans to get to the marriage stage with these beliefs...

I don't look like any of my family at all
a few years back it was my maternal grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary and they had a big bash, as you do... There's one photo of all us ladies; my gran, my mum, my sister and myself. The three of them look like some sort of time lapse special effect, and I look like that child they got from the orphanage.

My family are fucked for WW2 kudos
Irish, Italian and German.
The Germans started it, the Italians changed sides and the Irish left their lights on at night!

Shoved in work camps, and a neutral party who volunteered as a doctor and ended up as a POW
That's pretty impressive I guess.

Much better
There is my scouse great grandma who caught her shawl on a bucket of water on her way down the stairs during an air-raid and said "Oh Jesus Maggie what's that following us down the stairs, Hitler's throwing acid at us!!"
We wouldn't have won the war without loveable idiots like her.
