Having been on a train to London Paddington for the last 4 hours
I'm now stuck in Reading (in an internet cafe). Anyone got suggestions as to things to do, sights to see here? My train home isn't going for another 6 hours or so, and it'll almost certainly be horribly delayed.

In Reading
that's the only entertainment they've got.

Group Bennywanking.
Start a PHPBB board for it, give the craze a name, drop the name in a few crucial places so the papers get wind of it and cause a media sensation about teenagers meeting to wank themselves blind in public.

Time goes quickly then

Hello
You have to use proper html links here, and you can't put them in headers.
Peace.

I know...
.. i temporarily forgot

Are you from "da hood"?

Find a pretty woman.
Convince her the world is ending.
Spend "your last few moments on this accursed rock" banging her from behind.

Any particular method of global destruction
that works well?

If you were just going to London for the day,
I'd go home - you won't manage it, and I don't suppose it'll be much fun when you get there.

My train was an hour late this morning, and that was from Leicester to Loughborough.
They said it was due to an overhead cable failure, which probably saved me from being in a train with panicking people.

I was going to Cambridge via London.
I was meant to arrive in Paddington, catch a tube to King's Cross and go from there to Cambridge. I don't think it'll be happening now.
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 11:58, archived)
No way.
Find an alternative route or a bus.
Or go home and eat biscuits.

I was going to go down on Sat morning?
Do you reckon it's possible? I were going to Euston, then off to Charing Cross.
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 12:05, archived)
I dunno (I'm not there)
but I should imagine the trains won't be working properly for at least a few days.

get a camera
and do some B3ta journalism.

go and watch a film and get a bite to eat at the Oracle centre
matinee tickets are cheap IIRC. Good shopping there too :)

I'm in Reading too
I don't leave work until 6 though so probably miss you...
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 11:58, archived)
Shame.
My train is meant to be here shortly after 6, so I think you're right.
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 12:00, archived)
Well if the trains are delayed
I'm sure mine will be as well so beer is always an option.
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 12:01, archived)
I'll be on B3ta again after 5, I expect.
So maybe we can arrange something.

The cinema should be cheap at this time (ask directions to Oracle Riverside)
or there are quite a few pubs & bars around.

Waterstones in the Oracle (or the better one on Broad Street) makes for a good waste of time/library.

That's it - Watch a film, get drunk and read books.
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 11:58, archived)
Sounds like a plan.

Welcome to Reading
Please enjoy your stay (and don't feed the locals)
(, Thu 7 Jul 2005, 12:08, archived)
There is fuck all to see or do in the centre
unless you really like Generic Shopping Malls (tm)

Edit: Unless there's snooker on at the Hexagon.
