What are the top 3 JFK "I remember where I was when..." moments during your lifetime?
For me it would be :

1) Sept 11th 2001 - WTC
2) Diana's death
3) Ayrton Senna dies

What had you going "OMG! WTF! OMG!"? Release of a new WOW Patch? The closure of your local KFC? Dunblane?
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:14, archived)
WTC, Diana and JADE GOODIE 4evar in are hartz!!!!!

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:15, archived)
1) 9/11
2) Michael Jackson's Death
3) August 23rd 2001. My own reasons.

Yeah, probably. Something like that. Or my fat face. Maybe.

Cripes.
I suppose being an impressionable kid at the time, when Kurt Cobain killed himself. That was my first experience of someone who I considered a hero dying. I don't consider him a hero now. He was a right fucking bell end.

1) working at a pub in Newcastle's west end
2) I remember my mother waking me up to tell me
3) an JMG's house; his father shouted through. ( i had no idea who he was at the time)
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:18, archived)
I had no idea who Senna was... not his dad...

Proof indeed that JMG has indeed lived with his parents.

sorry jmg :(

I visited my parents a few years ago
My mum woke me up at 6am to tell me the news that G4 had split up.

That's the first and only time I've told my mum to fuck off.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:19, archived)
Were you that upset?

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:21, archived)
A mixture of devestated, being awoken at 6am, and not giving a fuck about G4

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:21, archived)
If my mum woke me up about anything other that a cup of coffee then I'd go down stairs and ruffle ALL the cushions
I might even put a cup down without a coaster.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:23, archived)
Better than being woken at 6am to be told that they're still together though.

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:25, archived)
NOBODY SHOULD BE WOKEN AT 6AM

When Diana died I was playing Micro Machine on my PC on Sunday morning.
September 11th I was in the office.

7/7 train bombings I was on the tube, got thrown off and ran to work then went down the pub at about 10:30am.

First pug I saw ever I got the biggest errection of my life, it really hurt, like it was trying to take off from my body like a fleshy moon rocket.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:19, archived)
I'd forgotten about 7/7
That was pretty dark.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:20, archived)
and you wuld have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:22, archived)
These are pretty much my three right there.
When Diana died I was visiting some relatives DARN SARF.

September 11th I was at school, heard sixth formers talking about it on the way home as it was on someone's living room telly, thought they were talking about a new film. Got home, found out it wasn't a film.

7/7 I was on an RAF base. Everyone got sent to their bunks with no explanation as to what was going on. We found out because someone got a call from their mum asking if they were safe.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:21, archived)
7/7 really upset me...
'cause I was going to Live 8 the next day and I thought it would be called off :(
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:22, archived)
7/7 I was on /talk.
Which didn't really help matters.
A girl I knew was killed too.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:22, archived)
Here's the 7/7 threads.

Fairly interesting reading. Shame there's no 9/11 equivalent.

1) 11/09/2001
2) Harold Shipman
3) England winning the rugby world cup 2003
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:19, archived)
Shipman was my Granny's GP, my Mum's GP, in fact he was the GP for pretty much everyone on that side of the family, all their friends and all their relatives.
Everyone knew someone who had died whilst he was their GP. It was fucked up, he killed some 200+ people.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:23, archived)
My Granny reckoned he was innocent for a while.

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:25, archived)
I bet he touched your willy :D
hahahahahahah SHIPMAN TOTALLY TOUCHED YOUR TODGER :D
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:27, archived)
First time I brought one of my girlfriends to Halifax, loads of my Mum's friends turned up
One of them for no reason started bragging about how Shipman had
'fondled his balls'

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:21, archived)
So, what did you think of Rage Against The Machine's last album?

(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:23, archived)
It wasn't an 'omg cutter lolemo' moment.
I honestly don't get surprised at things people do to others. I'm just incredibly cynical.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:25, archived)
I think you might have been a bit suprised that terrorist flew airliners into buildings,
credit where credit is due, it was original.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:28, archived)
1) I had just returned from school when I saw it all over the news
2) I woke up early, turned on the TV and GMTV were mentioning something about Diana but for about 30 minutes didn't once say she was dead, they just kept rambling on about her past. When they finally said it, I ran upstairs, knocked on my mum's door and told her.
3) I was too young to pay attention to that sort of thing.

edit: ah, you're asking what my moment is. Still, I've told you about my experiences of your moments.
(, Fri 30 Oct 2009, 14:22, archived)
1. The day the Carpenter's Arms got closed. :(
2 The day CUNT CBBFI took my living room away.
3 The day I first walked into the Victory Bar and saw that tap for Fosters.
Me: "Fucking excellent they've actually got something on draught here. Pint of Fosters please."
Barmaid: "Here you go" *Hands me a tin*
Me: No love, a pint please. *Points at the tap* draught."
Barmaid: "Oh that's just there for show."

NO KARL, THEY DON'T.

2) My mate had stayed round the night and we found out in the morning. We went and played football a little later and a woman in a nearby house had a go at us saying, "Don't you know what has happened?" Diana's death means we can't play football now?
3) Didn't know who he was. Valuable contribution there.
