This is a normal post Lulz.
My favourite LGBTPQRXYZ campaign group is Queers for Palestine. Say what you like about Israel and their foreign/settlement/general treatment of Palestinians policies, I'd actually probably agree with most of it, but at least they have the only functional democracy (as westerners understand the word) in the middle east. It's also the only country in the region where homosexuality is not a crime. They also have a well attended annual gay pride march in Tel Aviv. Where else does gay pride have a presence in the middle east?

as long as you accept it's a Jewish state. And considering how many non-Jewish people live within the 'pre-1967' borders, that's bloody lucky for Israel.
That said, the alternative are far fucking worse. As the second law of thermodynamics says - you can;t win, you can't break even but you can't stop playing the game.

This is a normal post Aren't the borders around the 1967 war really just academic? I mean, there were several countries created after WWII that ignored ethnic boundaries.
Had Egypt and the others succeeded in taking land during that war, would the world be insisting that they return it to the artificial borders created after WWII?

The whole point of 'Queers for Palestine' is exactly to combat this type of 'pinkwashing' of their continuing military-colonial occupation of Palestinian territory. Whataboutism is a great way to ignore and excuse a group's faults and crimes - being good on one rights front does not in any way excuse gross violations on another front.

Some points:

1) Democracy isn't black and white - As the occupying power, they are effectively (and legally) in control of the West Bank and Gaza. Do people there have a vote on how this occupation is run? South Africa had democracy too ... for whites.
2) Israel's support internally for gay rights is laudable, but what does perpetual occupation do to support Palestinian civil society and gay Palestinians? Their rights go beyond those attached to their sexuality, and are violated daily in the same way as any other Palestinian
3) Visit Ramallah some day, and you'd be surprised by the gay scene there.

The price difference between using a petrochemical*-based foam insulation which will burn and a mineral based one which won't burn is not as great as you'd think.
Then again, as the old saying goes 'look after the pennies and who cares if the proles burn'**

*The clues were there in the 'petrochemical' bit

**I may have misquoted this

Quick edit
I note from the article that they are going to use cement boards for the rain cladding. Good idea - excellent way to make sure that there's a really good chimney effect to spread the fire and fumes upwards

**I kid you not - someone actually tried to call this idea 'outsulation' as it was on the 'outside'. I think it was the first time he'd been called a fuckwit by an entire salesforce.

On more serious note though I did have to take a load more tabs today after getting the car door tangled up with reality and found my self face down stump in the air and a rather pensive look on my wife's face and a worried daughter.

This is a normal post Aw.
Boo. His movies had a profound affect on me. I mean until I saw Monkey Shines or Diary of the Dead and realised he should have retired well before. But nevertheless he gave us an entire horror sub-genre and we should celebrate that. ZOMBIES RULE!

And I remember one set in Ireland too that was just as bad.
Defo RIP though.

This is a normal post I was upset
that it was not phoebe double-barrelwhatever. She looked a bit more alien and geeky. Would have been good as The Doctor.

This one looks a bit more `vet show in the country` and the last time we had a vet as The Doctor it was pretty lame.

I am not upset that it is a woman but I would have preferred the other woman.

The Doctor needs something that makes them seem a bit off, odd, quirky. Not quite getting the whole business of being human.

This Jodie seems like she will just be a very business like human, not a slightly crazy alien.

This is a normal post Just take a look at the BBC news comment section
It's hilarious seeing people insisting they don't care about the Doctor being a
woman, all the while ranting about how the BBC has rammed their PC left agenda
down their throats by making the Doctor a woman.
