Aha! Now that Batsgirl's shown up, I can finally unveil my first ever animation.
I've had this in my head for ages, but it wasn't until last night that I finally got around to playing with Imageready. It's a bit on the large side, so if people complain I'll link it. Enjoy!

If I knew anything about Flash then I'd make a musical version.
I probably will do someday.

I may as well make it my first ever Flash project whenever that happens.
Unless somebody nicks it first.

And happy birthday also.
I had a feeling it was coming up. Did you mention it on the board, are are you just an obvious third-thingy Capricorn?

thanks.
I don't think I mentioned it on the board... although you never know.
'fraid I don't have a clue what a third-thingy capricorn is though.

Every sign is divvied up into three, and you're in the third one
As am I, I think.
Perhaps it's because you remind me in an inexplicable way of my friend, whose birthday is on Thursday, that I'm not surprised.

ZOINK!
KA-POW!
THREAD-JACK!
forgive my stupidness...I am installing a firewire card into my PC (iPod arrives tomorrow!)- it fits into the PCI slot okay but the card also seems to allow me to plug in an internal power connector - I am just a bit worried about doing that - the instruction manual(HA!) is a bit vague....I don't want to blow anything up - any advice?

i think you'll need it
firewire can run full-power devices, can't it? that's why it has the connector...b/c the mb can't carry that much voltage across the PCI.

so just leave the power thing alone...
cool - I think the ipod can be recharged from the mains or the firewire but it may stress my motherboard if I draw power through it...
thanks for the advice people...!

But that's the point ...
... if you attach the power cable then you won't be drawing current through your MB. I assume it's got a standard internal 4-pin PC power socket/plug on one end of the cable (ie, it goes straight into the power supply unit).
Think of it this way, if the plugs fit together then in general you can't blow anything up (they never design things that can be reverse plugged these days).
EDIT: Just to clarify, if you don't attach the cable then firewire devices will detect there's no power to draw and won't try, so either way you'll be fine, but I'd have thought having the iPod recharge while you're downloading to it would be a bonus.
