# Right.
Like a big fool, I clicked on the bodyworld.com link a few pages back, not knowing what it was. Twunt. My homepage then started resetting to some 'search everything!' site, stored directly to my C:\\ ('C:\\searchpage.html'). This file would not let me delete it, and resetting the homepage worked for about a minute before it came back. (tried both of these on and offline). I also tried cache clearing and virus scanning (with latest version of AVG). Nothing came up. I then tried creating a clean XP user account to transfer my data to, which displayed the same problem. However, none of the original accounts on the computer did so. At which point I attempted to download Firefox and work from there. The page came up again when I tried to download, but I was able to get the file by clicking 'save target as'. THerefore, I'm now using firefox, and the problem is not affecting me as it is evidently IE-specific.
Does anyone know what the hell is going on here, or has had the same problem?
Sorry to waste much space, but its a bit worrying, and thought that others might have the same problem if they clicked the damn link.

# Christ,
there are PC advice websites to ask, you know.

Try Spybot and Ad-aware

# actually,
does anyone know a good way of removing beetroot stains?

or change the oil on my car?

anyone?
(, Thu 20 May 2004, 13:30, archived)
# Try dying the garment
the same colour as the beetroot, thus hiding the stain. Works with blood as well. Or if you dip the blood stained garment in beetroot then dye it before burning it the police have less chance of finding it.

# Put beetroot juice in your car.
It absorbs the oil so after 30 mins just top up with oil.

For beetroot stains do the opposite. Rub old engine oil onto stain.

Works for me.

# go to

"Ad-Aware"

and run it. Will delete all the dodgy advert software that naughty sites install without your knowledge

and stick with firefox, its the daddy.

# Try Adware,
and search google groups for the searchpage's address- lots of people will have been through what you have.

edit: I had a similar problem, solved by a little program called 'CWS Shredder' or something.

"Spybot Search and Destroy". It looks for pernicious cookies, DLLs, tracking bots and dialers.

# Probably a service running in the background
Take a look through the task manager for any processes you don't recognise, and halt them.

This should allow you to remove any unwanted files.

Edit: Or, use the universal tool - a hammer, yay!

# In these cases a hammer and a condom
is all you need.

If you can't fix it....fuck it.

# I diud the same thing and found out i had picked up some hi-jacking software.
I though this sounded really exciting at first (thought i could be a pirate) but then it got really annoying so I used AdAware to get rid of it...

that worked for me

# I have had a similar problem..
In the past i got a virus that did that, but AVG found it and everything was sorted. It may be worthwhile to get spybot and adaware (if you havn't got them already) to see if they turn up anything.

# try here
forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showforum=18

Best thing is to get a copy of spysweeper.

Firefox is better than IE anyway, so why not stick with that once you've cleared this up.

# yes, true
but wanted to fix IE anyway

Thank you, tis completely fixed thanks to adaware, I love you all
