# Oi!
don't b0rk the board
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 14:57, archived)
# Pfft.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 14:59, archived)
# I couldn't possibly sponsor someone who takes delight in forcing scrollbar usage
Oh well, guess I'll just spend this truckload of cash on something else.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:00, archived)
# Damn!
My plans are foiled.

Tell you what, sponsor me a couple of quid and I'll put a couple of   s in it.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:03, archived)
# If I had a couple of quid I'd gladly donate
sadly I've got all of £2.20 to survive the next two days on.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:09, archived)
# Give me your address and I'll send you something to help you survive.

# *hand up*
me me me me!
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 14:57, archived)
# Not related to this post - (Woo btw) but considering today isn't a tuesday
I've got a whole fucking bagload of pinklines. Am I just being pissy today or is the board swamped with idiots?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 14:58, archived)
# you could unblock them and find out

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:02, archived)
# No, I think you're right sir, and I'm gonna take the opportuity to say something if you dont mind, cos I'll explode otherwise...
Right, today has been exceptionally bad for people not understanding simple GUIDELINES set
out for the good of all, basically, for those twunts who can't be bothered to read the entire
FAQ, heres a brief spoiler for you to pick out the juicy bits, remember these and you won't go far wrong..

Images - optimised to 50k or under if at all possible - please
Animations - Try and bring under 250k where you can, if you can't without serious degradation, please link to them - if they're good, we'll still comment
PORN - Just NOT acceptable for viewing anywhere, and anytime - so LINK it, don't SHOW it - and state on the link that its NSFW please
and all this mohammed business.

We've all SEEN it, READ it, DONE it to death 1001 times, and the joke is getting very thin

By swamping the board like this with such images using that cartoon, it aint gonna take long until someone outside of B3ta latches onto this and starts a scene - dont forget, the tabloids love this place for nicking images - and if the shit does hit the fan, it'll be Rob and mods who get it in the neck, they DON'T need the fucking hassle.

and one more thing

REPOSTS - if they're good, bung 'em in an EXISTING thread and link to 'em in a creative way, NEW THREADS ARE FOR NEW IMAGES/LINKS ETC

# Hooray!
*raises drink and quickly hides it 'cause he's in the college library*
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:06, archived)
# I can't get onto b3ta in college anymore
Not only did they block b3ta.com directly, they found out about my secret proxy and blocked that as well :(
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:40, archived)
# YES!
THIS!!

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:07, archived)
# Well said...
although if the mods were that concerned about causing a ruckus they probably wouldn't have FP'd the good ones.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:07, archived)
# good ones are a funny statement, not just sticking mohammeds representation on a pair of gays having sex
that aint funny, thats just stupid, funny we can deal with, stupidity is just well, stupid
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:08, archived)
# That, I agree with without reservation.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:12, archived)
# Yeah, but some of the Danish newspaper ones were funny statements...
innit? And they were reprinted in a different context to make a serious statement. Still caused trouble.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:13, archived)
# Yeah, agree with most of that,
but if the Mods and Rob didn't want the hassle of teh Mohammed thing, then they wouldn't FP so many images that took the piss would they?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:08, archived)
# see above, there weren't THAT many FP'd and anyway
geuine funny ones we can all have a laugh at in the contect that they are FUNNY, by endlessley repeating the same joke and swamping the boards with the same mohammed stuff, kinda makes the board look a bit racist and that it has 'issues',no?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:10, archived)
# Yeah, I agree.
I like a good bandwagon, but they can trundle on just a little too long, especially when they can be seen as offensive.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:12, archived)
# ...and when I start to see
people posting links to the BNP site, however inoffensive or funny the content of a particular page my be, I worry.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:13, archived)
# yeah, this place THRIVES on poking fun at bad/disaster situations
but in the context that its not endlessly repeated for the sake of it all as with this mohammed business. It generally tends to be funny in a genuine way.

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:13, archived)
# How many FP's have we had in the last three days?
How many have featured the Danish catoon thingy? I've seen some genuinely funny stuff not get FP'ed like the BANISH one yesterday. I think everyones had enough of it.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:12, archived)
# and they're funny cos we can read into them, we understand them...
as I said before, its not just shopping mohammeds representation onto a gay couple having sex, its not big and its not clever...
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:15, archived)
#
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:17, archived)
# Exactly, WE can read into them and WE understand them..
but extremists are unlikely to see them within that context, are they?

Even a couple of the FP'd ones were mocking the Islamic belief that you shouldn't pictorially represent prophets or god. The one with the vegetable Mohammed at the end, for instance.

Not to say that I didn't laugh at it. Just making the point that many of them could be seen to be inflamatory.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:18, archived)
# this, you don't want to make the mistake of thinking that extremists are clever in anyway...
extremism comes mainly from blind reactionism.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:30, archived)
# All humour is inflamatory.

I think the real question is: is there really
a double standard?

I'm not absolutely convinced there isn't
(not here on b3ta but in the European press).
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:35, archived)
# Yes
We don't want to all be detained without charge for inciting racial hatred now, do we?

... *all* of us - especially if we live in London. Can't be too careful these days!

# Amen

I think 'Rob and the Mods' is a good name for a band.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:09, archived)
# That's cool but I don't think anything will compare to a band I once heard called
"The mr T. Experience"

The music was pretty lame but hey, with that name I don't care.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:10, archived)
# but did you pity the fools?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:11, archived)
# Hahaha, welll... with their uninteresting blend of generic pop-punk and omgnawtywordslol?
I guess I did
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:12, archived)
# Were their lyrics good, or was it just a load of old Jibber Jabber?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:17, archived)
# Were they on the jazz?

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:11, archived)
# maybe that was just the reaction they were aiming for
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:14, archived)
# ^^this, big styleee
'specially the Mohammed thing, I can see it ending in tears... or possibly burnings.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:09, archived)
# yes this
this article is also of note about online attacks....

to read anymore...

# The Masons are onto you, y'know
;-)
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:16, archived)
# Perry is the one to watch out for
He's a bit nifty at the detecting lark.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:18, archived)
# really? I thought he was a defence attorney?
shirley it was his lackies who did the detecting ;-)
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:19, archived)
# Ok, you got me there
Raymond Burr did his fair share of poking about though, if the rumours are true.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:22, archived)
# i got my eye on you too
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:29, archived)
# What's the other eye up to?
Anything exciting?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:31, archived)
# well i only have 2 eyes
well 3 if you count my japanese one...

but there are lots and lots of you mormons masons about!
it's a tough job, but i got my eye on you all!
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:33, archived)
# i know, i know!
i went out and bought a special "vest" the other day
and another lock for my front door....
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:20, archived)
# I think you will find that animations should be under 200k.
Hamtoucher.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:19, archived)
# Please add smiley
I can't be seen to do so.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:20, archived)
# :)
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:20, archived)
# I 'think' you will find that the FAQs actually state that an animation up to 250k is acceptable
if you read carefully. 200k is suggested, but up to 250k is fine

(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:22, archived)
#
Jerk.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:32, archived)
# Yes, fine indeed.

pearls before swine, perhaps . . .
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:21, archived)
# But even if you can't be arsed reading the FAQ
Surely you watch and see what a board is like before deciding you want to join it?

At the very least you should have an idea of what is and isn't acceptable on it.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:24, archived)
# an even better way of putting it
y'see, the majority of people here are cool

I hope Im not coming across as TOO much of a nazi, but if the regular sensible users can stick to guidelines for peace and harmony, why cant everyone after having a brief scan of the faq?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:26, archived)
# exactly. It's especially annoying when people say 'i've been lurking for ages and thought i'd post a pic'
and its about 5mb. If they have been lurking on b3ta, you would have thought they would know the basic rules by now.
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:27, archived)
# gosh there are sensible people around here arent there
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:30, archived)
# yeah, but not many ;)
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:30, archived)
# where?
the F.A.wha?
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:34, archived)
# if only I had a nickel for every time I've pointed out
that a picture might be better done as a
GIF and been stolidly ignored . . .

I'd have at least a dollar!
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:39, archived)
# hooray!
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:26, archived)
# I agree with you on 99.9% of that
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:30, archived)
# right, I owe you a pint then
and no more daffyd
(, Wed 8 Feb 2006, 15:31, archived)
