I just read that Mars choccy products aren't going to be vegetarian any more. They've started using rennet which is sourced from calves stomach lining. Ugh

without it we'd be cheeseless, CHEESELESS!!
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:37, archived)
# Nah
there are plenty of veggie alternatives. That's what makes the Mars thing so incomprehensible... and in fact I read that the veggie versions of rennet are cheaper.
I don't think it will make much difference over here, but I reckon their sales will suffer in the UK.

minor TJ: QUARK USERS
i've been given a document created by a student
that needs printing as a magazine but they've
(typically) supplied it un-paginated. Does Quark have
an option to Paginate or am i going to have to do it manually?

oh, there's also no bleed or linked fonts or images...
just what do they actually teach in design courses these days?
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:33, archived)
# paginate?
i used to use quark, but it was a while ago
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:35, archived)
# you say Paganini
I say Page Nine
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:38, archived)
# aye
so that when the A5 pages are printed 4up on A4 (2 per side)
it can be collated and stapled and still run in numbered order

although at the moment, it's set at A4 landscape
i think i'm going to have to PDF them
chop them in half, them place them in the correct order manually :(
*huffs*
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:38, archived)
# there is a page order palette thingy somewhere
you can drag and drop them, but if its a4 landscape divided up, it won't work
i take it they've just done it page 1,2,3, etc, rather than figuring it put properly?

you could selcect each pages boxes and shift them about yourself, but i'd tell them to do that themsellves the ignorant tewats
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:41, archived)
# Ummm...
You could divvy up A4 into 2 picture boxes per side and drop em in, but it's a shocker trying to get it correctly aligned + right bleed...

Edit - registration marks help with this
(, Tue 15 May 2007, 15:46, archived)
# send it back to them and tell then it's not paginated
and to also embed the fonts or send the font files with it.

then punch them in the face.

# tell her to come to your office after hours and you'll give her private tuition
and teach her how to play pool in the same way thay would on neighbours.

sucker, you'll be at it for hours.
