# The picture isn't the subject
Hello, I was just wondering what animation package people use / think is good. I'm stuck with Adobe Image ready (which is poo)

Here is a picture of a parachuting squirrel as payment for any advice given. Thanks

# i lke ulead
hasn't got much in the way of tools but the anim/optimisation bit's a piece of piss.
i use tatty shop for the messing around and then import it.
must try to get the hang of image ready though, but it confuses me.

# tbh i use photoshop to do everything except the actual animation
i get all my layers and stuff ready first, so that in imageready all i do is set frame rates and do tweens

I use imageready and find it great

# I dunno,
I just find it hard to believe that IR is the only alternative out there... Maybe I'm just rubbish with it...

# If you don't like imageready
then you are in for some disappointment regarding the competition unless you have a few quid to spend.
You'll need flash professional 8 or CS3 but if you want better than imageready then you want Avid Xpress studio.

You might look at metacreations but that's up to you.

# for simple animations from photoshop layers IR is fine
if a little clunky. i used it for most of my old stuff.

For scaling/rotation flash is better, but i still use IR for optimising gifs

# Adobe Image Ready is great
if a little awkward to get your head around at first.

To be honest, every single animation package out there is going to be awkward to get your head around at first - there is no realy easy option.

You might want to try Flash (which also gives you the option of making longer movies with sound too) but if you do, I highly recommend getting a beginners book. Flash is great, but it can be a complete headfuck.

Regardless of what I animate in though, everything I make involves Imageready at some point. If only for the fantastic optimisation options.

# Fireworks
Still learning it, but finding it good so far, especially where you want to have transparency...

Having said that, I made this in imageready...
